Yo Cleve, did you remember to bring your switchblade to tonight's rumble?
No, but my new endemic assisted opening knife should do the trick!

Blade shape is slick, not a fan of the futuristic-style handle though; people are already kind of scared when you snap a knife open in 2 milliseconds around them. Don't also need them thinking I'm back from 2085 to stop the robots from taking over—I'm opening Amazon packages.
Shipping kills it for me though (I guess I need more friends who actually need a knife also... in order reach a $100 total for free shipping).
LOL. Repped you anyway, OP. : )

Anyone have any suggestions for a good basic self-defense type knife. Specifically I'm thinking of something for when I go hiking, in the unlikely event a mountain lion or other wildlife decides I look like a good next meal I could make it reconsider with a couple stabs. So, something that wouldn't require a lot of fiddling with if I ever need to use it, and could be kept in my car when I'm not out on a trail somewhere. I'm living in California which seems to have a law regarding keeping certain kinds of knives in your car. Ideally I'd like to avoid that ever becoming an issue if I get pulled over.
Edit: Offers have changed since I placed the order, now cheapest free shipping item is $23+ throwing hatchet. SRM 9201 is no longer free shipping but some are down to 11.25.

The second knife didn't seem to have as many issues, but I also didn't press my luck by trying to take it apart & clean it up. Whatever lube was used at the factory seems like it did more harm than good during the period these sat in storage until they finally decided to clearance them. Both of mine were pretty sticky and the liner parts that came out with the screw threads seemed brittle. I'm annoyed, but for $12 I feel like I asked for it. Kershaw would probably honor some kind of exchange/warranty, but again—I'm not sure at $12 it's even worth my time.
