I have this card. Purchased new. I hate it. It's performance was always lackluster and it got hot relative to my 6950xt. I would opt for a nvidia 4000 series or a used amd 6000 series.
Getting downvoted but this card has always been gimped and in 2024 8GB probably not the way to go if you're gaming. If you just want Cheap cuda this wouldn't be too bad.

for $300 this isn't bad. That's the same price I got a 1660 Super for during covid. The 1660 is showing it's age,, but this blows it out of the water. It's more than fine to play something like Fortnite at 1080p at 200+ fps

I still can't figure out what the logical upgrade would be from my 2070 SUPER card. It's still kicking with some of the best games.
A 3080 is about 75% faster on average. That being said, don't upgrade if you're happy with your current performance. Next gen midrange cards SHOULD be out less than a year from now, and even if they're poor value they'll at least drop prices on the used market.

As someone who loved Fry's Electronics in its heyday here in Phoenix, every time I see one of these in-store MC deals I think about how much we enjoyed nerding through a giant computer warehouse back in the day. Closest MC is Tustin I think, have never been in one. Man I wish they'd open a location here!
Is MC as cool as Fry's was? I've never been either but I miss Fry's. I'm in OC so I'll drive to Tustin and nerd out if it's comparable to the old Frys that was in Fountain valley.

8gb vram is too little these days. 16gb is my new low
12 is totally doable but I do agree. We're seeing more and more games using 12 or more max settings at 1080p! Let alone 2 and 4k. I looked forever for a used 12gb 3080 for my sons pc before giving up and snagging a sale priced 7900gre - which works amazing btw

I confirmed the same thing. I went with a 3080ti. The boxes are sealed and have the official nvidia refurbished sku number on them. GPU also has a tamper proof sticker on the bag. Overall I was happy with the purchase

I pulled the trigger because I've used Micro Center's warranty before and they bend over backwards to satisfy their customers. 2 years is enough for $200 (after my slow RX6600 trade in) and then I can trade it in again. The RX6600 wad quoted at $119 trade in for almost 1.25 years so Im willing to risk it.
Exactly why I bought one from Microcenter. They have been AMAZING to me over the years and their customer service is the best for electronics hands down.

what do you need nowadays to play warzone and cod? LIke what's the ideal setup and how much would it cost to build? I visited a microcenter and they were saying it would take a pc at least 6k to run just the minimum requirements for it.

NO WAY!! You can easily run minimum for say 400? For 1500 you're playing anything you want at good fps

I wonder if it's worth it to pull the trigger on the 3080 ti to replace my 3070 ko edition and put that in my daughter's system who is currently running a gtx 1080... I've been targeting a 4070 because I'm trying to play at 165hz 1440p but I don't know if those will drop sub 500 OTD any time soon

I was tempted but ended up not going through with it, cuz my 1080Ti still able to give respectable FPS at 1080p.

Obviously it depends from game to game, but my god 1080Ti still holds up.

All the best my fellow gfx explorers
Lol still waiting to upgrade my 1080ti, nothing even comes close in value even today. Would be a sidegrade if anything if you bought this. Everything I run still gets 60 FPS at 1440p in most cases.

Also, these are on ebay for like $250 used, no idea how this deal is so highly rated for a refurb with only 90 day warranty.

Any noise complaints with these cards? I have gigabyte 3080 and it sounds like a jet engine on full load with no fan control

Same situation here, I am currently fine with 1080ti but have found out I need a newer card in order to use PSVR2 on PC when the adapter comes out in a few months so I have been waiting for a decent deal.
