Yes and no... This is very hackable. I've used it record Grandma & Grandpa's voice from reading books to a NFC tag on a Paw Patrol toy. Google it. There's a learning curb, but well worth it

good deal on this, however the Tony figures can be expensive. Get a "yoto" instead for cheaper cards instead of figures. You can also make ur own yoto cards. We have the yoto mini. Kid loves it

I've got a 3-year old that got a Tonie box and some figures for Christmas. He loved it for a couple weeks and then lost interest entirely and it collected dust… until we started potty training. It really came in handy to get him excited to go to the bathroom if we brought it with. Hope this helps!

I've gotten more use out of mine than expected. My 7 year old likes listening to different National Geographic ones while trying to fall asleep. There's also a really calming sounds lamb one. Soul Tonie is also great for sleep. Most of the other Disney ones have lots of songs that will get them turned up so not for sleep.

Have you thought about Audio Dramas? Basically audio books but with full cast voice actors, sound effects, music...

That's what we do with ours as well! Plus it's handy for breaking screen time or other activities.
