I was a fan of The Martian, but Artemis was a huge letdown for me. It's full of middle school humor and Weir did not do a good job writing for a female character. Maybe worth your $3, but don't expect The Martian magic.
I thought it was a fun read but not on the level of The Martian or Project Hail Mary.

Your library potentially has no wait time for this with Libby. Mine has about 50 unused copies. Typically when the library comment is brought up in these threads it's a 2 month wait for me, so it's better to spend $3 but not for this book
Everyone knows The Martian. Classic.

Artemis isn't that good.

Now Project Hail Mary. Best book I've read in years. On the edge of my seat. Read it in two days. Can't stop thinking about it.

This is pretty good but if you haven't read anything from Andy Weir yet I would recommend starting with Project Hail Mary or The Martian

Fully agree! Artemis is nothing like Martian or Project Hail Mary, which are my top favorite books from all authors

The Martian is one of my all time favorite books. Artemis is worth reading, but don't expect greatness. The lead character is female and it's written super awkward. Almost like Weir was a bit "stimulated" when he was writing certain actions for this character. Just weird. But, get passed that and it's a decent read and I would still recommend it.

Dude had one good book, rest are repetitive and boring.
I liked Hail Mary. Not as much as The Martian but it was still a great read. I'm in on this one for $3.

Yes! 100% agree! I really enjoyed The Martian, and my entire family really enjoyed Project Hail Mary, but Artemis was one that I did not even finish - and I seldom do that. It felt like it was written by a completely different author.

I second Libby. Read this book about two weeks ago, no wait on Libby. As other's say, it ain't Project Hail Mary or The Martian, but well worth the $0 it costs using Libby.

Same here. I think I didn't care for this as much because he's writing it from the perspective of a teen girl. He got back on track with Project Hail Mary though.

Hail Mary is the only book of his I've read, after enjoying the film version of The Martian. it was a mixed bag for me. I actually really liked the plot, the characters, and the story overall. However... the writing I thought was absolutely terrible. It read a lot like "fan fiction" in style to me, albeit after having been edited by a professional. The writing was like it was at a lower reading level. Maybe he does this on purpose so teens can read his books easier? Anyway, despite my interest in the story I struggled to get through it, but I did. Weird experience reading, though. I was interested in Artemis, but after reading Hail Mary I just couldn't do it. I guess I'll wait for "faithful movie adaptations" since I do like the plots he comes up with.

That's how I felt about Project Hail Mary. It's like old lady humor.
