Tempting but this is probably only confirmation Google will announce some new hub this month. I presume Gemini and Assistant will require a bit more computing power.

Yeah looks like same price at Target, Lowe's and most other retailers. Tempting at that price since I need one for the kitchen, but also hesitant because I want to see what the next iteration if these are.

NOT worth it. The nest hubs (minus the actual Google tablet version) are unbelievably slow now. Trying to navigate to the thermostat or the live cameras take 2-3 seconds between press and action. Swiping between menus is just an exercise in frustration.

And I say this as someone who bought 2 maxes and 5 hubs. They started great, then slowly got slower and slower and slower.

The tablet works great though.

Assistant is such a trainwreck the last few years on our hubs. Where it used to answer questions it offers links to webpages that crash, the loss of audio groups and volume control (recently returning-ish), random reboots related to our Nest cams. I hesitate to keep investing in the ecosystem, but we're in pretty deep.

Will Google ever release new smart hubs or smart speakers? They are so outdated compared to Echo devices. I'm completely in the Google ecosystem. Using Nest Audio on multiple rooms now.

They have their Made By presentation in August where they will announce the new Pixel phones. There are rumors that all the new smart home products will also be announced. These significant price cuts for old gen products sort of confirms that.

Thats way too high of a price for this item that came out in 2020. Should be less than $100.

I agree that they suck, especially coming from an Android fanboy. They took away video calling home devices which was one of the best parts for me... It definitely has not gotten better.

Considering moving to the Amazon ecosystem...

Going to have to do better than that to get most people to buy an old, slow and outdated model with who knows how much life left before Google abandons it.

Hmmm...you think it may be related to the jobs Google chopped these past couple of years...
