Keep in mind this is the first version. The second version has better build and features such as the autofocus, image quality and most important the inclusion of vibration control (VC). I didn't check the price difference for the V2 but it may be worth it.

$1199, so $300 difference, it depends on your budget, V1 at this price is good, V2 is better.
