So here's my concern -- the internet has a 2-yr price lock, but the cell phone service is only covered for a year. So after a year, you'd have to start paying for the cell phone service. But what if you disconnect the cell phone? Do you keep the same rate for the internet? Or do you lose a discount that would then increase the price on the internet in year 2?

I do pretty much the same thing that the guy does. This is the step I take to insure smoothest possible transaction.

Step1: Call and schedule your cancellation. Schedule disconnect/cancellation on the day your billing cycle ends, so that you get your full money worth. Don't give out any information other than you want to cancel.

Step2: A several of days before your cancellation occurs (or X days you think you're shipping will take), order online and have them ship you the equipment. Use a different email address, needless to say. Using the same CC hasn't caused any issue for me. Make sure you have done step 1 first before you do this, because the online order will usually not go through if they perceive an active/uncancelled connection on the address you're trying to order (they will ask you to call and verify). If you have scheduled a cancellation you won't have to worry about this.

Step3: Right after the day your current billing cycle ends, switch off the old and set up the new. Return the old equipment.
I appreciate your steps, I am going to try this as I pay 90 for the lowest service now. If I go to the link in the deal above and see if it applies to me, it tells me I already have service at that address. So I am not sure how i would order the new deal service w/o first cancelling. I did use a neighbors address, that i know doesn't have Spectrum, and the deal is there - it just won't show for me because I have an active account. If I call and have them cancel on the last day of my billing cycle, and then order new service the next day I'd likely have to wait a week or so for the modem which isn't the end of the world.

Was able to call and downgrade my $90 bill to $30 (2 yrs). Skipped the free year of cell phone service. Thank you OP!

There are so many things impacting performance in a residential setting. There's many statements about bandwidth in this thread which are accurate. Cable companies want you to have a FOMO a many here have bought in. "Sir, do you watch 4k video? Oh, well we recommend the 500/40 plan."

Video conf solutions (like teams) dynamically adapt bandwidth based on what it is observing (loss and latency) in an established connection.

So many things impact video and gaming, like the airwave frequency saturation (apartments and condos and townhomes), bad AP placement, crappy cable carrier phy nic and WiFi chipsets, crappy residential network components, damaged cables.

Unless you've shared your ssid password with everyone and none of your housemates are BitTorrenting, 100/20 should be just fine until 4 screens are trying to watch 4k at the same time.

I pay $59.99 for one gig speed and that is not a special it's their every day price where I live.
Their phone service is $35 per month for unlimited everything if you have Internet with them and that's not a special either.
I pay $99 per month for 500 down for Spectrum. My only other choice is At&t at 25 down, which really isn't a choice.

I dumped spectrum after another price increase and I went to tmo 6 months ago. I game and stream, no issues

Consider a carrier (tmo or vzw) if they're near. Check cellmapper.net to see if towers are near to you.

I tried to sign up to both and they said they weren't available yet. I have Verizon phones and have 2 to 3 bars in my house but can't get home internet. Idk

I tried calling but they won't do anything for my current 300mbps service at 85 bucks.

Might just cancel and sign up under my spouse's name & number.

Yes... I asked them to cancel my service, they said wow you've been with us 5 years let's see if there are promotions. Told them I was not interested in additional charges but saw an offer for 100Mb service. They asked me if I got a flier or an email. Told them I saw it on their website. They said there is only 300Mb avail. Told them I checked and there was 100 offered (I did check and yes it was IN MY AREA, via the link in OP). They put me on hold for extended periods to "check with upper management" and finally came back with the $30 for 100Mb and 24 months.

I would have canceled and re-ordered as described in earlier posts. My bill had been creeping up from the $50 intro offer to now $90. This is a terrible company that will squeeze you as much as they can. Unfortunately there is no competition here except Att dsl with 10 Mb speeds, data caps and similar pricing models. Can't wait for fiber!!

As for 100Mb being for ants... OK. I have been on dial-up. 1Mb seemed incredibly speedy. 10 Mb... wow instant downloads. Those who say 100Mb is too slow are just spoiled rotten.

In may, I called to cancel my 300 mb/s internet because price was going up to 85$. My neighbor was told that you have to cancel service for thirty days to be eligible for 30/month. The customer service offered 30/month for 2 years. 100 mb/s. Then offered free unlimited cell line for year. Took them up on both. Don't see any difference between 100 and 300. Spectrum seems to have more spam calls than my previous att. Otherwise is similar or better cell service. BTW, on Spectrums s24+ deal from February.

They probably believe they won't be able to provide suitable service at your location. That does suck, sorry.

All these cable carriers need competition. In my block, it's spectrum or att dsl (horrible). Thankfully T-Mobile is here to challenge spectrum.

just went through this. in NYC you can choose 300 as your speed and it is $40/month and it goes to $60 if you choose 1G as your speed. You can decline the mobile phone option so there is no need to deal with that. I pay 82/month for 300 at this point, so this seems worth doing

Spectrum has been rolling out High-split with their COAX (which uses the DOCSIS 4.0) which enables symmetrical speeds. (Download = Upload). Fully deployed in Reno, NV and expanding quickly in other cities.
I switched over to Spectrum High Split 1gbps (about 6 months back) which also gets me 12 months free Spectrum mobile unlimited with hotspot (total cost $90 per month). I get stable 920mbps down and up. Average latency is between 15 to 18ms. Great for wfh 4k video calls all day. Have been hosting multiple web services for friends and family from a home server.
Every 2 years i switch the account from me to my spouse's name and back, to continue getting the discounted rates/promotions. small hassle for a decent ROI.
How do you plan the disconnection from your name and connection with your Wife's name. Is there a perioid where you dont have the service.
