are there any extra fees/deposits when you sign up?
e.g. broadband label says $30 fee for self-install?
$30 "activation fee".

Which I don't understand as they don't do jack in terms of setting anything up at your address, and it was like 5 minutes of work on their end to set up your Internet service in store.

BTW.
Guy (from lead finder company) came to door offering fiber 500 Mbs for $29 / for 24 months.
Since I was being bent over by frontier at 50 Mbs for $65, 10x for 1/2 price was a no brainer.
Had issue because coax to house was disconnected at box down the block.
Rescue installer they sent out, said there isn't fiber within 10 miles of my house. He said fiber is only going in to new areas being built out. Also worth noting, bill came in and said if free 12 month phone is not accepted within 30 days, the router will no longer be free, and billed at $7 a month. On the plus side, the speed is running about 575 Mbs & 21 Mbs up wireless to my laptop.
I declined the free mobile line, and I see the router is $7/month in checkout... I don't see it anywhere that to get the router free for 12 months, I have to accept the free mobile line for 12 months offer as well Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Not surprised at all. It appears they have have a bunch of people out there signing up folks, with a lot of minor variations on the deals being offered.
I got $29.99 (price locked for 24 mths & no contract), no install fee, free unlimited mobile for 12 mths, free router (for 12 mths)
The bit about having to accept phone service in 30 days or pay $7 mth for router was on printed bill they mailed me after install.
In the case of my offer, they don't what phone care as long as the phone is compatible.
If you have an old phone laying around use that IMEI, they should then give you a phone number.
Just dump it in 12 months, and buy a router. I grabbed the $20 router from woot and will send back spectrum's when I install that.
Or the $15 wifi 6 router at woot right now (see frontpage deal).

Immediate, you can use the same name, I normally use a different email and phone number.

I'd cancel couple of week before the cycle ends, then sign up via online a few days before cycle ends. Make sure to choose new customer after you enter your address, that's all it takes. Old account will automatically end and new will begin 7 days after you receive your new modem or earlier if you choose to activate early.

I am on the 29.99 plan 300mbs and 2 year locked price is expiring in September, so i will be doing this next month again
Dang, they talked me out into the free spectrum mobile service for a year.

Can I still do what you're saying or will the mobile service be messed with?

* I can never understand spectrums freakin bill! One month it's $85- $20 promo- $5 the next month it's $65 - $15 promo etc.

The base price and promo deduction changes every freaking month!

My experience was I called to cancel my service, as was described earlier in the thread, about a week before end of service date. I was offered this deal, which included a new modem, router at no additional charge(we'll see come bill time). Also was asked if I was interested in the phone deal, which I declined, but was told would still be available if I changed my mind. Was also told I'd get a monthly credit of $10 for auto bill pay...which was already in the system. Got the modem/router the next day...had a minor glitch with set up which an online chat cleared up in short order.

My previous Spectrum service, as I understand it, was 300MB...I had been getting the $30(?) gov. subsidy until congress decided not to fund it recently. As such my internet was raised from $49.99 to $79.99 this month, plus the new $3 increase from Spectrum...so $82.99.

I have a few wyze cams along with my phone, computers, echo dot..etc.

The day before the "downgrade" of my internet service I did one of those online speed-tests and it showed around 115 to 120 download/10 upload. After downgrade from 300mb to 100mb I did same speed-test(s) which showed....115 to 120 download.

Everything seems to work as before...perhaps it was my older equipment on the 300mb service, I don't know. The modem had been upgraded a few years back(from spectrum), while my router was the old T-mobile slickdeal from a few years ago...which, while required a few power restarts occasionally due to drops, had been fairly rock-solid. I was not having streaming/other issues so I simply didn't notice the lower download speed than I should have been getting.

That's about it. So basically I am supposed to be getting 100mb for $19.99 a month for 1 year, then $29.99 the second year(OP deal, $29.99 locked in for 2 years)

Actually you have to wait 30 days from cancellation to be considered a new customer and get a promotion

Just saw this but my retention specialist was able to downgrade after talking to her supervisor. It took several minutes but I was surprised that they did it because it wasn't advertised when I punched in my address.

I have my own modem and router and downgraded my internet to 100mbps first by calling retention and they gave me a promo at $20/m for 12 months then $30 thereafter. Then I signed up my cell phone on the website for 12 free months through the BYOB compatibility check and transferred my number using eSIM.

I did select the insurance for $5 a month which is worth it for me as I just got a new Pixel and it covers a screen repair for $29, just in case. So I'll be paying $25 a month for home Internet, cell phone plan, and phone insurance. Worth it for me.

I'll probably port my cell phone out somewhere cheaper after 12 months but keep the $30 home Internet. 100mbps is more than people realize and it's unlikely a regular family will cap that. People just get upsold on the gigabit for profits.

I have an ARRIS SURFboard with DOCSIS 3.1 but any old DOCSIS 3.0 modem will do as they get up to 1Gb and they are much cheaper

I had to call them because my address was not coming up on the website. I'm a new customer, and they're charging me $65 for installation. Is that standard? I've never had Spectrum before.

I work in IT and we work with multiple end users that have spectrum and I would NOT recommend it to anyone who plans to use it as a WFH, video broadcast or Gaming option. Uploads are laughable (usually under 20mbps and usually goes under 10mbps if you use a VPN) and they have really hight latency (ping). I am sure results vary by location but I have yet to see a spectrum end user with good upload speeds/latency.
It work fine for me for video conference no lag at all

Anyone knows how to fix the slow website loading? Sometimes it takes 10+ seconds to load a website compared to FIOS? Is this normal?
