"Midea has been manufacturing major appliances since 1985. They have been manufacturing major appliances for GE since 2004. If you look at the two brand's appliances side by side, you will notice how closely they resemble each other. You can tell which GE models are fully manufactured by them because the license plate says, "Made in China" or "Vietnam." Midea also has a plant in Louisville, KY...so GE can slap on a "Made in USA" label on certain appliances even though Midea is only providing certain parts and components for those models.
When the Haier corporation purchased GE Appliances in 2016, they retained Midea as a manufacturer for the remainder of their contract. Midea Rep told me another 20 yrs.
Anyway, in 2019 Midea expanded their market to the U.S. Midea slapped their own name on the label and negotiated a contract to sell major appliances at Lowe's exclusively.
I've seen their expanded product lineup at CES this year and last year, but what they have contracted to sell in the U.S. is pretty limited.
If you purchase their appliances, I highly recommend getting the Lowe's Protection Plan. I've received mixed feedback on their products. People either love them and feel they are getting great value for their money, or absolutely hate them. Their refrigerators have been getting good feedback, but their dishwasher, that was released 2 yrs ago, gets returned pretty often. Their top load washer and dryer has been getting a big thumbs up too (these look almost identical to the GE Profile top load laundry).
Just keep in mind, this is only their 4th year in the US market with their own name on the label. So there's not really a a good sample yet to guage for reliability.
Oh yeah...Lowe's does sell Midea water filters."
More recents reviews on Midea refrigerators have been very decent, even compared to the brand names.
but need a new one so no opption for around 1000 range for flex. flex /center is good for butter etc.
