Largely depends on your preference, size of your yard, and type of grass.

For example I've had both. Gas for ages. Picked up a craftsman V60 on clearance real cheap several years ago to try out, but now I'm back on gas. The battery mower was ok, for awhile, but not great..then the battery degraded after a season or so to the point I could no longer mow the whole yard on a charge. Additional/replacement batteries were non existent for this model...but for other battery mowers, just the battery sometimes cost more than the whole package! Then a few years later the battery died completely rending it and the mower a paperweight. The pluses...could mow the entire yard on one charge while it was new. Quieter. No engine to maintain. No fumes. Etc. The negatives...the power was just barely adequate for the thick St Augustine grass common here, so if you let it get too long or try to mow wet, it's a struggle as it will constantly stall. The batteries...as mentioned already, if you can even get them when the original wears out, they are crazy expensive. Then the longevity, largely because of the battery situation. Mine was only useable for a few years until it was straight up trash. My gas mower is 13yrs old and still runs and mows good as new and has the power to get thru nearly anything within reason.
None in stock Nashville area. No big deal for me, my 17 year old Honda mower starts on the first pull every time just like it has from the day I bought it.
If you can get one of these, do it now. Honda has stopped producing lawn mowers since regulations and everything are going towards battery powered mowers. Honda is by far the best gasoline powered lawn mower. Like mentioned earlier, don't worry about parts since there are so many other Honda small engine products. I have this one, or one similar, and 2 others before this one.

This was showing up as $999 in my region when posted. I needed a lawnmower so I sat on it while watching stock dwindle and hoping the price would drop in my region. When I saw stock at single digits, I decided to bite and purchase it for $999 fearing that I would have difficulty finding a good quality Honda mower down the road. Then someone here posted that they got one for $849 from another retailer and I was not feeling good about that. But I noticed that the Home Depot site was now showing this mower at the $699 price in my region just a few days ago (even though it was out of stock for delivery and anywhere nearby). I decided to call them to see if they would pricematch and they did! $300+tax has been refunded to my credit card.

TLDR: If someone purchased this for $999 and is within the 90 day return period, call them and see if they will pricematch to $699. It worked for me.

Bought one in So. Calif. Get one while you can. Sale of gas lawn equipment built in 2024 and later is outlawed, but because these Honda's were built in 2023, they are still okay to sell in CA.

my 17 year old Honda mower starts on the first pull every time just like it has from the day I recovered it off the street from the neighbor's garbage and changed the carburetor for $18.
My HRX needs a new carburetor also. Local dealer wanted $130 I see them cheap on Amazon, but question the quality. Where did you go for your replacement? Thanks.

This is a good deal. I have 2 HRC216 (commercial) mowers with the GXV160. the HRX is probably what the next gen honda commercial units were going towards before they stopped production due to stricter emissions.

usually, honda will run a GCV version for a few years before going to a gxv. GXV means all the bugs are worked out and sometimes they will refine the internals a bit more. The GCV200 didnt get past that due to a decompression valve recall. They fixed the issue; and rereleased it. That's why these are 30-40% below the retail of $1099.

The NeXite deck is somewhat controversial, some say its not good because it does not have the same "weight" as steel. but the HRC steel decks do need Maintenace whereas the Nexite is lighter and does not. Overall, these were probably the next commercial units if California emissions did not kill them. Luckily you have a few more months you can still get these. Anything with an old engine block date code can still be sold into california. It's your last chance to get a real mower with Hydrostatic, 200cc engine, and blade stop. Worth it if you are buying it for life. Dont foget 5 YEAR WARRANTY!

I was just able to order this for $549 + tax!
I have had this in my cart for a couple weeks. When I looked today, it had a message about the price being updated to reflect local prices. So, it could be location specific but I'm not sure. I did order it for shipping, not pickup, for what that's worth.
