In the European Union, devices that can record video longer than 30 minutes are classified as video cameras rather than still cameras. Video cameras are subject to higher import duties. To avoid these higher taxes, manufacturers limit the recording time on their cameras to 30 minutes or less, allowing them to classify the device as a still camera.

Usually if you remove the sd card, you can run it as a webcam without it shutting off in 30 minutes.

Sometimes they do overheat though.
I'm still rocking a T1i lol
It's basically a sidegrade and yes the lenses aren't the best, particularly the disappointing 18-45mm. The 18-45mm is a little below average for a standard zoom kit lens. The 55-210mm is decent optically but only goes to an underwhelming 210mm and the aperture range also isn't great. Because of this, for a zoom lens, I'd generally just use Canon's RF-S 18-150mm or Sigma's 18-50mm f/2.8 depending on if I want more reach or the larger aperture and better image quality of the Sigma lens. Those are more expensive although you can sometimes get good deals on a refurb body with the 18-150mm bundles with it when they have refurb sales.

I'd generally only bother if you really want to get into RF AND really want to get in at the lowest possible price that includes a telephoto lens. However, you'd be better off watching for deals from Canon's refurb store (basically new products for less) on an R50 or R10 which are worthwhile upgrades, at least if you'll benefit from significant improvements with autofocus and video.

Unless I really wanted eye autofocus I'd rather stick with the T7i. Although you can get an adapter and use EF/EF-S lenses on the RF100, it defeats the size advantage of mirrorless and with the R100 particularly will be a bit unbalanced an awkward with all but the smallest adapted lenses. T7i's main advantages other than native lens selection is the fully articulating touch screen and better battery life. T100 has a fixed, non touch sensitive screen.

can someone tell me if this would be a good upgrade from T7i ?
I am aware this is RF system, and mirrorless, but otherwise - should I switch or not?
This camera and especially lenses look and feel so cheap.. Is it good quality at all ?
Also is mirrorless better then mirror ones?
Thanks

I love Canon's color tone, but this model has an awful crop on the 4K sensor.

Fellow T7i user here. I shoot a lot of video. This thing won't take better photos than your t7i, but it will shoot 4k video natively and comes with two capable lenses. That said, they aren't compatible between bodies and I'm not seeing viable adapters based on a cursory search, so I'm debating whether I buy this or an actual VIDEO camera. For the price, this will go the distance through the apocalypse/wwIII

I don't think it can record more than 30 min of video continuously if you are thinking about buying it for 4k video.

Recommendations for using as webcam / making video content for work on my PC? I heard some models like Canon don't need a capture card

I think for 2024, an R50 is a million times a better choice than the R100. The R50 has:
Higher MP, newer sensor.
Better processor (DIGIC X vs DIGIC 8)
Touch screen
Swiveling screen
Better ISO performance.
Better video in 4K.
Advanced A+ with creative bracketing and automatic HDR modes that no other canon camera has
USB C charging. This killed the R100 for me on a trip: I didn't realize the camera would not charge via its USB C port.

Put simply, Canon's taken the cripple hammer too far on the R100 in this day and age.

The R50 goes on sale frequently, new or refurbished.
