That premature failure might be tolerable for you, but It kind of broke my brand preference to logitech and I have owned a lot of logitech products in my life including even the glass denovo keyboard that they made 15 years ago.
Premature failure is relative to usage and your definition of 'lasting'. one of the mice started having issues after about 2-3 years of use and the other one started having issues a little over a year into use and by 2 years that one was unusable.
I did some research online and discovered that they used the absolute cheapest clicker in the industry to save about 25 cents on the production of a $100 mouse. So, I ordered 10 clickers and attempted a desolder and replace job. It worked, but the problem is that my soldering skills suck. And I didnt properly clean the tiny board so the new clicker didnt sit 100% level leading to a very poor travel on the click when put back together.
If your soldering skills are at seasoned level, you can mitigate this singular issue with the mouse by disassembling it and replacing the clicker when it start to wear out because NOTHING else is wrong with this mouse. Its a shame that a company does this. Because that single choice leads to a mouse that is nearly unusable at a point when you still want to use it a couple more years.

This is the first I heard about the clicker. Gotta love late-stage capitalism.

I had this exact issue on my mouse that I got around 2020 (so four+ years old). The fix for me was a combo of cleaning the scroll wheel cage, and reorientation of the laser inside the mouse (the scroll wheel works by firing the laser through to a sensor on the other side of the scroll wheel).
The whole thing took about 25 mins to take apart all the screws, pry off the moulding, clean, fix, and reassemble. Thankfully, no soldering required for me.
I've never had any issue with clicker action or travel.
Even given all this, I picked up another. Most of my shoulder/RSI issues went away after switching to this mouse and it only took a couple of days to get used to the new arm orientation.
I had a doctor recommend this mouse after I started having the beginning symptoms of carpal tunnel.
