I just bought the 39" OLED LG from the other LG thread and I will never ever go back to anything less than OLED. The color production is on whole another level with oled panels.....especially for gaming. I'm seeing colors/textures in CoD and Elden Ring that I never noticed with my older IPS 32" monitor.

I know OLED is generally superior for most people, but they're not nearly this price. So, what gives with all the threadcrapping on this monitor? Where can we find significantly cheaper VA 49" 1440p quality monitors? Or where are the 49" OLEDs for near this price point?

But seriously, if somebody is really wanting a 49" 1440p (not 1080p) monitor without breaking the bank, what's a better option than this without encroaching on $1k? "There are no good options right now" is a fine answer if that's true, but let people know this and don't just crap on the post.
I think it's because there are actually several other monitors on sale from Samsung and people are weighing the pluses and minuses of all of them . I think it's been pretty productive on informing people.

Is this a good external monitor for my Dell laptop with n4020 and 4gb ram? 😭💀

Anyways, what do people actually do with this much real estate? Can a 4090 even game on this?

I'm just worried if I move to a 45" or 49" 1440p that it will never be the same as my 32" 4k. I don't see any pixels now and mainly use for productivity.
5k2k 40" monitors from Dell. Higher PPI than your current monitor. Best model is currently only 120hz but more monitors with this panel will be released next year.

Yeah I saw that but the price is outrageous for the screen size of only 40". Might as well get the Samsung G95SC or wait for G95SD.

Samsung has shit QC. I wouldn't buy any of their big monitors tbh. I used to have a G9 on a sim rig, was not impressive. Tons of backlight bleed and the picture was very meh. OLEDs are probably better, but not if you're mostly using it for WFH.

Well that's where I'm torn and hesitate to buy at least the OLED version. People say it looks like shit up close with pixels unless you're gaming.

There's more 5k2k panels coming next year. Just wait. LG will release their version of the Dell monitors (it's LG's panel) and it will be cheaper.

Just wait and go for 40" or less in 5k2k. I tried the G9 on my desk for work before I moved it to a sim rig. It's just too wide to be comfortable.

I currently use a 38" 3840x1600 for work and think it's the sweet spot size wise from an ergonomic perspective. I do have a small portable monitor underneath for screen-share and messaging apps. FWIW - I am going to upgrade to 5k2k panel when 5090 releases. Just don't see the point before then as my 3080 would struggle.

What size are you going when you upgrade again? I also don't think it's a dramatic increase of screen real estate going from 32" to 40". What is your desk size width too? I got a 60" width because I wanted a 49" monitor to fit etc

I'm buying a 40" 5k2k. My desk is 72x30, but I have speakers on the sides.

I've had a 49" mounted to my desk before. Too wide physically and the lack of vertical pixels sucks for productivity.

That's another thing worried even moving from a full 32" 4k that I'm losing the vertical space that I like. Spending $1600 for a Dell 40" 5k2k is crazy.

If people are fine with 27 inch qhd ,then they will be fine with 49 inch g9. Both 27 inch qhd and this g9 have 110 ppi. Unless you go 4k monitor then I doubt there's anything that has higher ppi than this
Lol yeah, lots of people in this thread that do not understand aspect ratios and benefits of aggressively curved super ultra wide displays when it comes to less FOV lense distortion. People who buy these 32:9 monitors want a more immersive gaming experience not necessarily utmost pixel density/clarity. though I agree this monitor is getting to be a bottom of the barrel super ultra wide. there are better models for not much more, but to discredit the use case of these monitors is erroneous.

There was a thread for a Deco gear 5k2k for $500 refurbished I think. It's supposed to be an LG panel. Passed on it due to the brand

The Deco is 1800R. This one is 1000R.
