Will this make a good pad for camping to put under a sleeping bag?
It will take up a significant amount of room, once unpacked, they expand and you will never get it back down to size. You are better off with a camping pad, will be thinner, more firm, more compact, these toppers though they may be 3" thick when laid out, when you apply weight to them they compress very easily

The 3" is the sweet spot for a foam mattress. I put the last one on the floor and laid on it and couldn't feel the floor at all.
But like another commentor said, this wouldn't be my solution for camping. Once it fully expands you're going to have a 60" log to haul around. It's super awkward to move. I'd look for another pad that is specific to camping as they're designed to be portable.
(unless you're camping in your backyard, then this would be perfect!

Any product touting that its product is "memory foam" should have two very important specs associated with it to be taken seriously:
1. Density (usually noted in lbs/inch or usually "LB")
2. ILD (Indentation Load Deflection; which basically means how much give/support the foam provides (i.e. how hard or soft it is)
Neither one of these specs are associated with this product which more than likely means the specs are bad which means this topper will become very uncomfortable to lie on in a matter of months.
As an example, acceptable density specs for toppers supporting 50-100lb people (i.e. kids) is 3LB. For 100-200lb people it's 4LB and +200lbs and/or on a shared bed it's 5LB.
ILD specs for foam range from 0-50 (12 ILD: Very soft; 16.5 ILD: Plush; Over 44 ILD: Extra-firm; 50 ILD: Very firm).
A reputable wholesale foam company is the thefoamfactory.com. Here's what they are charging for good quality memory foam toppers that are 3" thick:
Thanks. Great price to take a chance on. My 2 inch from Walmart is a bit too thin and I had a 4 inch before where I sunk in too much. Hopefully 3 inch is the sweet spot. Been waiting for a deal on one
I left a King in my cart and Beach Camera sent me a $10 off $50 coupon! SUPER SLICK...
I think I bought my 75" Sony TV from them a long time ago, so they had my email?

Mind you these are wholesale company prices which is probably the lowest you can get due to no overhead/marketing costs.
As always, "caveat emptor" people.
