Thanks, I've had this in my Amazon wish list for a few weeks now. This is the last "big" purchase I needed to make before getting all my network/server gear rack mounted instead of scattered all about.

Payboo makes it tax free. Don't need, but it looks like a good deal.

So hard to justify when you can get a good UPS and a shelf for $150

So this has just a 9Ah battery , for *3.1* minutes of backup at load.. Or maybe at a very low 100W load 45min..

What's the point? Do you guys have a beefier backup behind it, or just want to shut down the devices at the alarm and wait for power to come back up?

This one has the exact internal as the CP1500PFCLCD which is $220 regular price (which I assume will drop below $200 when on sale).

It's not meant to keep things up and running, it's to allow them to shutdown gracefully, or deal with short power outages, brown outs, etc.

If you want to keep things running, get a generator.

If you have a small business office with a router, a couple of switches, and a few PoE access points this will protect and keep your internet up during power flickering and brownouts.

This is the same kind of thing you might have under your desk, but in a rack for your network equipment.

I'm not a huge fan of CyberPower - I've always felt their build quality was mediocre and specs inflated, but people seem to like them and rate them highly. I much prefer APC, but that's a different price point.

When it's safe enough and cost effective to so.

I hooked up a huge AGM car battery to my old Tripp Lite UPS. I think I got it at Costco. Seems to work well.

One thing you need to check is the ability of inverter to run for extended periods.

Cheaper UPS'es (not necessarily yours of course, but most $100 and lower ones) do not have proper 120V inverters that could run on a larger battery for a longer time. They will burn out.

Good UPS'es of course will not care.

It's an old Tripp Lite. Hasn't shut down on me when I needed it. I haven't deep cycled it or anything. It's only got maybe 200 watts running on it. If I add the server, it'll only be up to maybe 500 watts.
