I had one of these some years back as well, but while it was pretty useful, the battery wasn't replaceable and it became useful only as a (plugged in) night light after a few years. These don't appear to have replaceable batteries either. That being said, at less than $6 per light, they're easy on the wallet. It just bothers me that I'd be purchasing guaranteed e-waste after a certain number of years.
I really wanted these but didn't need 6 of them, and found a 3-pack for $21.99, so it's just slightly more per flashlight.

Mine all work fine so far! I did notice a very slightly warm case when plugged in even after a full charge.

But no meltdowns after plugged in all day and all night.

It looks like the box was printed in 2020 and the product looks newer than 2020. Very light weight.

question...

if they come on automatically when the power goes out and they last a couple hours - if i return home three hours after the power goes out... my 6 plugged in flashlights will be dead?
It will only auto turn on if the switch is in the on position while plugged in. If the switch is off it won't turn on upon loss of power. This is in the description on the product page.

We have several of these around our house as emergency lights. They work great for that. Not super bright, but when the power goes off at night just being able to see is all that is really needed.

Yep. It's really just enough to help you get situated and pull out your more useful lanterns/flashlights.

Ummm, that's is how battery powered devices work. If they are left on until the battery is discharged, they stop working.

What exactly were you expecting? Some kind of arbitrary timer to turn itself off during a power outage? That kind of defeats the purpose of a power failure light.

Emergency lighting typically stays on until the power returns or the battery is depleted. Most commercial emergency lighting only has a run-time of 90 minutes (the minimum mandated by various codes and regulations).
no - what would be useful to me would be a flashlight that didn't arbitrarily discharge itself when it's not necessarily needed and render itself useless. you seem to be too wrapped up in your own idea to envision the problem.

It doesn't arbitrarily discharge itself. It does what it is supposed to do when set to power failure mode. If you didn't want that, you could just read the instructions and not set it to power failure mode as suggested earlier.

I'm not sure why you'd buy this flashlight to not use in a power failure mode, but clearly you want to "envision the problem" to use a plugin power failure light like a regular flashlight that just inconveniently lives in an outlet all the time.

Personally I would want an "older" NiMH or NiCad unit.

Keeping a lithium battery, especially not an LFP, at 100%, is a guaranteed spicy pillow.

I don't want six tiny Hindenberg's at my house.

These are brighter than expected and my ETON ones are starting to fail. Customer service is very spotty these days with any vender. But if it was bought and shipped by Amazon, you may get additional help on those products through the Amazon help links.

I was able to get help on my ETONs that failed after 30 days.

Anyone else get a box that said 6 Nicad batteries?

Also, the discussions about functionality are interesting.

I have lanterns, flashlights, and power out lights that cover all situations. When the power goes out and it is totally black in the house you need a short-term pathway to see the hand in front of your face.

The Energizer lanterns that were on a previous sale, work very well!
