Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

2nd truckload just arrived! Thanks op for posting
Bricked one to OpenWRT... time to stock up more for science.

I'm worried these things are so fragile that they won't work at all then! Right now everything works but I have to broadcast my SSID. Wondering if maybe that's OK since my neighborhood is "safe"...
Actually, there is really no security benefit to hiding your SSID. If someone is trying to hack your network they will easily find it anyways. In a sense hiding your SSID can make your network less secure because your configured devices will be actively looking for your hidden network by broadcasting your SSID when you are away from home.

Hiding the SSID makes it so that it doesn't show up to other casual users but it doesn't make it more secure, at least from what I've read.

Here's one article that mentions it …

https://support.apple.com/en-us/102766

"Hiding the network name doesn't conceal the network from detection or secure it against unauthorized access. And because of how devices search for and connect to Wi-Fi networks, using a hidden network might expose information that can be used to identify you and the hidden networks you use, such as your home network. When connected to a hidden network, your device might show a privacy warning because of this privacy risk."

Seems like hackers have tools to find "hidden" SSID so not broadcasting isn't inherently safer. So I guess I'll just leave it alone then. The mesh network otherwise appears to be working fine. Looking forward to switching to a stable DD-Wrt or OpenWrt firmware when that happens!

This $45 ($15x3) mesh seems to be the best networking bargain I have ever secured from SD. The system is now 3 months old- pretty robust. I get 600MBPS throughput from my own speedtest servers located in basement. each Linksys node is connected to a moca 2.0 ethernet for backhaul. And I no longer have to deal with zillions of SSIDs. Only drawback is- I do not see any of my devices connected to guest network.

If you login to the web interface, under the Device List section, there's a tab for Guest Network where you can see the connected devices.

You cant, if you run them in bridged mode with main router serving the DHCP, in 192.168.1.x subnet. Linksys routers assigns 192.168.3.x address to guest network.

Anyone having speed issues with these on wifi? If I run a speed test it's fine and hits what it should. But just regular browsing the internet clicking videos and links it seems slow to load things sometimes. If I switch wifi off and just use my phones 5g it's faster. It's almost like the initial connection is slow but after it's connected it's fine.

Sounds like slow DNS lookups.

I haven't played with it, but some people in previous threads have also mentioned that express forwarding, node steering, and client steering could potentially cause some performance issues, so you might try disabling them to see if anything changes (just another possible option). I've been experiencing occasional drops in internet connectivity with my LN1301 mesh. I remember seeing a report or two about this in one of the LN1301 threads here. As I still have my old Orbi mesh running, whenever this happens I just switch to the SSID for the Orbi. I haven't spent any time troubleshooting this issue but I would really like to shut off the Orbi and use the LN1301 exclusively.

I have three of these. I flashed one to DD-WRT but could never get it to connect to the internet. Now I am wondering, could I use the DD-WRT as a node from the main LN1301 (running stock), and that way have access to the USB port? If so, how would I add the DD-WRT router to the network as a node?

I imagine same way you add the stock ones, or any other daughter device. Try the CA settings page described upthread. I'm curious if that will work, let us know

That won't work because what he is proposing is not using the stock firmware.

For DD-WRT, I recommend using these settings:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/v...p?t=324014

Doubled my speeds for 5G to 500 Mbs download/ 320Mbs Up.
