Now a 780M would be better of course that will cost you an extra $100 or so. If you are not a pro and dabble this will be more than enough. The only thing to note is the newer ones have faster NVMe speeds and moving data is very important to perceive speed also and 512 GB won't do it so perhaps you look for a 32G/1TB just in case if your budget allows.

ps: How hard is it to do a clean install. My USB with WIN11 is ready to go ...is it USUALLY pretty straightforward for a novice to do a reinstall. Or will I be scrounging the innertubes looking for drivers for countless hours?? Thanks for any little help.
Never heard of oculink, is it proprietary?

Other factors to consider are thermal design and product support. GMKtec is an ODM for other mini pc brands that recently started selling through retail. I haven't bought one, but this design looks nice for homelab. I have no idea about their customer service or software support. I have heard mixed things on Reddit about Minisforum's QA, but they've been around for a while and are one of the top brands. It's a risk you take with any of these minis.
I think it's best to take a look at reviews of the exact units because the thermal designs in mini pcs seem to vary a lot, which can make a big difference in noise, heat, and throttling when manufacturers opt for the high performance processor variants.
