My experience with the stretch down is it is a nice jacket, but it's best suited for moderate temps (40's) while stationary or active use in the 30's. It's got a nice fill power but a lighter fill weight which puts this in the light jacket category.

Mountain Hardwear has been around for awhile. They were acquired in early 2000s by Columbia Sportswear. Columbia also owns PrAna (casual/yoga wear), Montrail (trail running) and Sorel (footwear).

MH Is definitely higher end stuff than Columbia. Geared more towards the actual outdoor users and lifestyle. Still huge in the hiking and mountaineering world. Tents, higher end jackets, etc. Columbia is big box store stuff (Similar to 95% of North Face you see) but the Mountain Hardwear stuff, like the higher end North Face stuff is legit. Athlete/Ambassador tested in the conditions it's used for.
