Activation worked after a reboot. The phone itself is nice, took about an hour to download all my apps and carry over sms/pictures. However, as expected, device had a bit of bloatware. Fortunately, you can uninstall about 90% of it so no issues there.

If you wanted unlock bootloader buy T-Mobile and its variants OR unlocked straight from brick and mortar store
In the payment tab, you should see the Auto Refill option and I don't think this option is set. For the credit card, Straight Talk did the same way and I replaced it with the expired card info or some fake expiration date. Right now my account is not ready due to the porting process, so I couldn't do anything.
