Yes Google voice worked for verification without unlocking it once get device pay $3 to unlock GV for porting or try activate with new number YMMV or port different number on activate page.

These Automatically unlock with only 1 month service after Activation on 60th day can confirmed unlock date by texting UNLOCK to 611611

Yes, that's situation, my port is not complete. Google voice shows number unlock but currently can't get incoming on TW. Outgoing works on both (GV & TW).
TW says it may take 3 days. Am traveling to Europe tomorrow, not sure whether it will impact on it or not

No set time, sometimes it's a day or 2, sometimes it can be several days - they don't usually ship on weekends so might not be till next week.

Would this be much of an upgrade over a OnePlus 8? I've had this phone for a few years and it looks like some of these newer phone deals have little to no improvement in performance unless they're $300+ devices. Am I missing any significant reason to upgrade my phone, other than being on Android 14 instead of 13?

october had 31 days it counts 30 days as a month. They usually unlock right before midnight on 59th day after activation.

It doesn't matter if last month had 31 days or not, from my experience, if 611611 said it will be unlocked at date X, usually it will be unlocked after date X - 2 9pm (PST)

its 60 days after activation 611611 only counts 30 days per month that's why extra day on the unlock date. They always unlock few days before. I bought 4 phones since June all unlocked earlier than the text.
