That isn't true at all. All issues have been identified and fixed with the latest bios updates.

They've been fixed according to Intel. I'd say it's still a little too early to trust them. We need some time for the community to stress test them and look for any performance degradation or extra throttling applied by the updates.

Also, two things worth noting:

This is like the third time Intel told us they fixed this. They were also very confident the first two times.
Their response to this issue overall hasn't been great, so I'm not sure I trust them to clean up this mess completely.

People who actually play PC games. You aren't playing MSFS 2000, iRacing or any other AAA game on a Mac mini.

As a lifelong tower owner, who doesn't use one anymore, I have to ask who still spends $2,300 on a dinosaur like this. I don't see the point anymore. 99% of people can even get by fine with those tiny Apple box computers the size of a small book.

Aside from gaming, can I also use this as an every day work machine (edit files, filing taxes, etc). Is this good for video editing as well?

Yea, it'll be good for video editing. Probably more geared towards gaming.. But it'll be fine for both

I don't think anything permanent like Intel. I'm guessing you the mismanagement of the cores or something?

I think in this case you're spending the extra money on 64gb RAM, if I'm not mistaken.
64 gb ddr5-5600 is maybe $200, not $400.

I'll play the guessing game: you're running an Intel chip with your fingers crossed? 🤣

Not yet...but I am planning my build now with a 14900kf. I don't live in fear and it is still the best on the market. Worst case is that I need to RMA it but I doubt I will need to. I remember when people though the 9900K ran too hot and I never had any issues with it.

replying to this thread while using this PC.

90 day return window is what sold me. I can use this and if I find a better deal between now and the end of the year I can jump on that.

Zero complaints about this PC so far. well I do wish it had a few more ports on the top for quickly connecting USB C devices

Runs pretty much anything Ive thrown at it.

Primarily for gaming, video editing, 3D modeling, PCVR

Just my two cents. I purchased the iBUYPOWER deal a month ago from Walmart that had the i9-14900KF CPU. Updated BIOS to the 0x129 update and when playing COD WWII, I do see my CPU voltage still go up to the 1.45v range and it stays there, not random spikes here and there. I always thought anything above 1.4v is considered too high so I reached out to iBUYPOWER and ChatGPT (lol) and both said this CPU is rated up to 1.55v so I guess I'm alright? Not really sure. It's running great with no throttling and BSOD but I'm just not sure if I'm slowly frying my CPU. Not all that tech savvy in the world of PCs.

7800x3d is superior for gaming and am5 has an upgrade path for the future. For a gaming computer, I can see no good reason to go Intel at this time.
