Nice price, but RAM does not seem upgradeable from 4GB. Not sure why Asus would manufacture this e-waste.

If you do purchase this item, you should leave it in Windows S mode for best performance.

soldered makes this e waste.
dont even bother with windows remove it and install linux to make it marginally usable.
but still very very very bad.

if these assholes would just add a 10 dollar slot it would be worth 50%-100% more than now.

IMHO, I would not take a 4GB RAM if it was given to me free. Even Chromebook plus laptop nowadays come with 8GB of RAM. Would probably an okay gift to Grandma or grandpa this Christmas.

Nah, with these specs you should just format and install Mint Linux. The real question is if you can charge the laptop via the USB-C port. If you can't, I wouldn't bother -- proprietary chargers just take up space and shouldn't even be a thing in 2024.
I've been keeping an eye out for inexpensive laptops with usb-c charging and it seems to be a premium feature.

Newer machines mostly use your storage to cache files. So as long as it is a fast one you ll not feel a huge difference
I can't tell you how wrong this is. Memory swapping to disk has been around forever, but it is not a replacement for RAM. Even SSDs are not up to the task of "replacing" having enough RAM. Not to mention constant memory swapping will wear out your SSD NAND chips much faster.

4GB RAM is a non-starter today, regardless of price. You are going to end up with a $110 paperweight.

Or install ChromeOS Flex which is what I think I'm gonna do if I can't resist buying one of these things after work
I'll be the adult for you:

Do you need it or do you want it? Or do you just feel you have extra money to burn so you will buy something that you neither want or need but feel it's "too good of a deal?"

Install Zorin OS. It's just as idiot-proof, with just as good (if not better) performance, without being locked into chrome as your browser and sacrificing native applications entirely or running them in Crostini and taking a massive performance hit.

4gb of ram is not enough unless you're just web browsing and youtube.

Please be mindful of two things:

1. The power button is placed to the left of the Delete key. It's easy to accidentally power down the laptop instead of deleting something.

2. I bought the 8GB open-box Intel version from Best Buy on Friday. It was dead on arrival (DOA), so I returned it. Best Buy did NOT refund the recycling fee. After some online research, I found a Reddit thread suggesting this is part of Best Buy's policy. Not sure if Target has the same policy.

I live in SoCal.
You can change the setting in windows. Tell windows to "Do nothing" when you press the power button. Of course, if the laptop is off, this will still turn it on...but if you're online and doing something and press it accidently, it'll "do nothing".

This video will show you how to do this if you don't already know.

It's weird to see a nearly decent laptop for $110 that doesn't make sense to buy. But this just won't be better than my old laptop with only 4GB of RAM.

It really sucks how they're soldering the RAM onto all these cheap laptops to make them disposable when the RAM eventually stops working
