LN1301 is wifi 6, this one is wifi 5. $15 for pack of 2 is very good deal. VLP0102-NP currently sell for $35 in Amazon.
My $15 Linksys has been running for a month straight with stock firmware. No problems.
The MX10600 is 2.2ghz with 1gb ram tri-band:
It has 2 Wifi 5 (2.4ghz and 5ghz 2) and 1 WIFI 6 (5ghz 1) bands

The MX8000 is 1.4 ghz with 1gb ram tri-band:
It has 1 Wifi 5 band (2.4ghz) and 2 wifi 6 (5ghz 1 & 2) bands

The MX10600 is made up of 2 MX5300 nodes.
the MX8000 is made up of 2 MX4000 nodes.

The MX4000 nodes are comparable to the LN130 (AX4200/AX4300) except the MX4000 is 200mbps slower on one of the 5ghz bands. Same specs otherwise other than ram. (LN1301 has 2gb ram instead of one since it was purpose built for a Fortinet security app to be running on it before they scrapped the idea and liquidated them).

The MX10600 would be faster if you use a wired backhaul as it only has 1 wifi 6 5ghz band.

The MX8000 will be faster if you use wireless backhaul only as it has 2 5ghz wifi 6 bands.

According to the review linked to by OP, you must use the Linksys app with a Linksys account to do the initial setup. After that, you can use the web interface to manage it. But the fact that you cannot do the initial setup without the app is rather concerning, IMO.

On the other hand, if you can get openwrt or dd-wrt on these, you should be good to go.
I put dd-wrt on mine and things seem solid, and should only get better.

Yea it's super easy on the stock firmware for the ln1301

1-Setup your Main router completely. 192.168.1.1 is the default addy. If you want to use these Linksys mesh routers in bridge mode set it in the ipv4 drop down under the connectivity menu on the left of the main menu before adding the child nodes.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router's lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

8-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

9- Power off child node and move child node to desired location. If you are using wired backhaul use lan port 3 on child node (not WAN port)

10-Repeat process for any other child nodes you need to set up.

11-Disabled client and node steering in connectivity menu. They just cause problems and impact performance.

11-Once complete you can use the Linksys mobile app to confirm if your mesh is setup and using wireless or wired backhaul in the app and change the names of the nodes based on the room you placed them in so you can locate it easily if one goes offline.

12-In the app restart the whole network so you can test that it reconverges all nodes automatically and double check that the nodes came online and connected automatically.

Pro tip: if using in bridge mode set a static IP for the parent and child nodes to make it easy to access the Linksys management interface and minimize chances of any issues.

For instance my glinet router is my main router at 192.168.8.1

I set static addresses for Linksys parent node to 192.168.8.2

Child node 1 as 192.168.8.3
Child node 2 as 192.168.8.4
Child node 3 as 192.168.8.5
Child node 4 as 192.168.8.6
Etc…
Noice.

What is the real wifi speed for LN1301 mesh ?
I can only do the wireless backhaul and hope the speed can reach 1Gbps.

Looking to replace my Nighthawk X6 R8000.
The firmwares that Netgear pushed out seriously botched this router for me and after reading their forums it doesn't seem like a fix is coming anytime soon. Connection keeps dropping on both hardwired/wireless items and would need a power cycle every other month.
Does anyone have any recommendations from this sale that offers equivalent/better performance than the R8000?

Mine were all bought new and no issues of any kind. (MX10600)

But what is the Woot warranty on this? Are these really used?

Ordered 2 as it may have a 30-day warranty from Woot.

If these are fully functional then this is the one to buy for folks who have higher end Velop systems.

If they work the two 1301s are going into the storage closet for 10 years.

I need a device that supports like 100 devices. After all the wifi enabled smart stuff in this house it's made it unstable. Recommendations?
Here's my recommendation and important tip:
Get a cheap wifi 6 router like the LN1301. Use it as an AP for all you ioT devices. Block access using your router to any other networks. That way you dont need VLANs and expensive managed switches.

Tip: When setting up your ioT network, do NOT change the network name and password. Use your current network name and current password that all the ioT devices are connected to. Set up a new network name for the devices that are not ioT you want to be on that network. This is a big deal. I made a mistake and set up my ioT network using a new network name since it seemed sensible. Turns out that there are many ioT devices that are very very difficult to change the wifi network. You pretty much have to take them physically off to reset them. This includes NEST devices, doorbells, cameras, sensors, light bulbs, etc... They do not have in their app, a change wifi network command. If you have a 100 of these, you will curse this idea, unless you follow my tip!

In real life the ln1301 (or MX4200) beats out the MX5300 since it uses all WiFi 6 radios and a newer processor. Even though the MX5300 seems to have better spec designation it's not actually a better router due to its awkward radio setup. The MX4200 actually ended up replacing the MX5300 (two of which make up the MX10600)

MX4200 is WiFi 6 on 2.4ghz and 5ghz
The MX5300 is only WiFi 5 on 2.4ghz.

Look at the speed tests comparing the two here.

Explain in dumb person's language. Will an AC2200 system, compared to an AC1200 system increase the actual internet speed for wireless items in my home? The incoming stream from the cable company is 500Mbps

Theoretically should be able to see 1.2gpbs max in perfect conditions.

Yes but you are better off going with the MX8000 where you will really notice the difference. Look at the systems in the linked more section in the OP. Spend a few bucks more for AX speeds.

I may be totally wrong on my thinking here, but I ordered the MX8000 and will add them to an AC1200 node system. I will connect the items I don't care about speed (lights, Alexa) to the AC1200 nodes, and the computers to the MX8000 nodes.
Or am I dumb about how this works?

I wouldn't mix them if you care about max performance on your network. What you are saying will expand coverage but WiFi 6 will get crippled having to communicate with older AC2200 standards on some or all the bands depending on the nodes / devices connected if you are meshing them together.

Whatever you decide to do make sure the MX router becomes your parent router.

Im looking replacing my routers because of my terrible Netgear routers lol.
