I have an a54 (Tracfone/Verizon) as my main phone.

It is a decent phone. I don't game or do anything heavy, but it handles all the regular stuff like social media, video, and the Slickdeals app just fine.

I see no reason to upgrade it until the security updates run out in 2028.

I got it to use as a trade in for $800 in bill credits for a S24+

For New Lines you need to pay off and wait for 60 days from the activation date.

I currently have an iPhone XR. Should I get this for temporary time being? My iPhone XR been dying out lately with battery. I don't plan to game on it just use it for content consumption. Also, would it work if I have T-Mobile?

you may be able to unlock the phone and use it elsehwere, HOWEVER if you cancel the phone number connected to it you will be paying full price at a prorated amount. So in other words if you cancel after 4 months you'll have the other 32 months at full price left to pay. If you plan on keeping that ATT line this is fine, but if you plan on moving that phone number to a different carrier expect that price to revert.

Can you just buy the phone $49 and put in current h2owireless SIM card and use it? And it's unlocked after 60 days?

no, you have to pay for 36 months, if you end that contract you have to pay the full amount of whatever months are left.
You CAN however unlock it after some point him time and just use it, they don't car where you use it but you need to keep that account....remember...you're paying for ATT for 36 months, they don't care about the phone, but you will pay your monthly account fee along wit the 1.37.

This seems to indicate that if you paid off the device and canceled the line, it should be unlocked after 60 days on post-paid.

In response to the previous comment "no, you have to pay for 36 months, if you end that contract you have to pay the full amount of whatever months are left" - the full amount in this case is the $49 I'd assume.

I used to see the SIM swap trick mentioned in other AT&T deals. Does it not work anymore?

Is anyone actually able to sign up for a new AT&T account as part of the checkout process? I get to the AT&T Account Creation page and the page just refreshes every few seconds, making it unusable.

I tried, but got denied. Didn't expect that, since I have 750+ credit, so tried again without luck.
