This is not monthly credits. Phone price is reduced to $1.37 for 36months by walmart.
Requirements:
1. ATT Postpaid account
2. New Line or Existing Number upgrade , both will be same price.
Note:
1. You can pay off the phone or your line as soon as you get it delivered in either CASH or by calling IVR at 611 "Pay off Device".
2. You will have to pay $49 only to pay it off. Tax will be charged upfront on $49 based on your state.
3. You can cancel the line after you pay off the device . No question will be asked.
4. You need to pay $35 upgrade free or if new line.
5. You can cancel new line with in 3 days and $35 will not be charged . only $5-10 bill depend on your usage. Worst case scenario , $35 charge if you cancel after 14 days and 14 days of monthly plan bill around $30.

It is a decent phone. I don't game or do anything heavy, but it handles all the regular stuff like social media, video, and the Slickdeals app just fine.
I see no reason to upgrade it until the security updates run out in 2028.

Same question for me.

You CAN however unlock it after some point him time and just use it, they don't car where you use it but you need to keep that account....remember...you're paying for ATT for 36 months, they don't care about the phone, but you will pay your monthly account fee along wit the 1.37.
This seems to indicate that if you paid off the device and canceled the line, it should be unlocked after 60 days on post-paid.
In response to the previous comment "no, you have to pay for 36 months, if you end that contract you have to pay the full amount of whatever months are left" - the full amount in this case is the $49 I'd assume.
I used to see the SIM swap trick mentioned in other AT&T deals. Does it not work anymore?
