But also, even if it gets a little grimy, they still work just fine. Doesn't effect your food.

Awesome just grabbed this. My current 8qt air fryer basket just got damaged and doesn't close right anymore from falling off my draining board after washing it lol... this one looks nice!
My first air fryer was the Walmart Gourmia deal. It had a lot of caked on oils from condensation to splattering. Nothing you can do about it. Curious if you are speaking to a specific part of the fryer? The tray sidewalls? The metal mat holding up the food for airflow below? I just quickly rinse out with soapy water and wipe. If you have buildup, get extra hot water and Dawn. Fill high. Mix. Turn on fryer as long as you want. That sidewall crud should start to crumble. The soapy condensation helped me get the oils and hardened crud to drip off the fans, not totally, but enough.
I prefer Gourmia over all the others I tried. The display is excellent. Gives thorough options for myself and guests. Intuitive. I know the display is heavily altered and produced for other fryers, but limited and kind of annoying. Gourmia seems to cook better overall, a bit faster.
Also I'm not sure what you use your fryer for but for like 90% of things I do, its set to 400. So even if there were bacteria still in the fryer itself, the surface of your food after cooking is going to be way too hot for any bacteria to survive.
But yea definitely wait until your unit no longer fits your needs and upgrade without any second thought. I'm on my 4th air fryer actually. First one was too small so I upgraded to a larger unit (first one became my travel unit). 2nd one was the one I used for years but it too started feeling too small as my family grew. Its the one that I let get nasty. 3rd one was great for almost a whole year but then the switch that told the unit that the tray "was in" stopped working so the unit wouldn't power on despite working just fine moments before. I literally opened it up to shake my food and then the door didnt close right and it never worked again. Anyway it was under warranty so I got a refund and went back to using my old "gross" one until I found a good deal. The old oil still stubbornly there. I gave it a solid scrub before returning it to service but since I didn't want to destroy the nonstick surface, I stopped short of using barkeepers friend or metal scrubbers. Anyway the food always came out fine despite the generous "seasoning" in the tray.
Then I got the costco Gourmia unit this week.
