Curious to know why?
I used to have arlo about 7 years ago and they were great. I disliked the subscription requirement but otherwise good camera and good software. Really curious to hear other perspective before investing into their ecosystem.

Six years with an essential and pro spotlight.
before i forget, make sure you do not have a vpn ON when first connecting your camera-s.

I Like the essential camera, almost like a friend. like it very much.
BUT, Arlo keeps trying to force subscriptions on you. then not easy to cancel them. UNLESS CHANGED: Not easy removing payment methods to stop automatic subscriptions.

the pro spotlight. i yet to figure out how to completely stop the flashing spot lights to notify me about this and that.

If you don't want subscription, I would get Reolink. They are pretty good.

I have the older Arlo "pro" system with the base station/hub. Does anyone know if I can use these to just upgrade my cameras?

I had five Arlo cameras up until a few months ago. Got a deal on cameras and replaced ring with Arlo. Gotta agree, do not buy Arlo cameras. They were much worse at detection and the "ai" detection for pets and packages and such were horrible. Si,ply missed tons of recordings it should have captured easily. Ring was much better. I used essential, pro, and doorbell Arlo cameras and solar power to set sensitivity and power to max and not worry about battery life and it was still bad.

Battery life was inconsistent, hence I moved to solar. One cam that recorded say once every two days max and had no IR enabled or anything would die in 30 days. Same exact camera on my garage recording 20x a day would last 60 plus easy. Same exact settings. Super super slow notifications, and bad latency when trying to talk to someone via doorbell. Super frustrating to use overall.

I switched to TP Link Tapo cameras and they are worlds better than Arlo and much better than Ring too. Super happy with my Tapo cams now and they are free to use too. Quick notifications, have been 100 accurate at pets, packages, people and missed nothing getting delivered and picks up everything accurately, cheap cameras, free to use, great image quality, I am very happy and will continue in this ecosystem. Glad I gave them a shot!

I did analog and IP camera setup and install for security purposes for years, hence my username. All wired type systems. Wired may be best, but at home wireless is good enough for me!

Had the same experience: inconsistent notifications, battery burn rates, and detection. Also tried modifying settings to optimize performance with seemingly no impact to any of the aforementioned characteristics. Would add that they give you a free trial of the paid service for a month or so and the cameras are in my case useless without the subscription. This was not clear until the subscription ended which just so happens to be right after the return date. If I could do it again would not get this brand.

I have these. Inconsistent, yes, but great image quality. I wouldn't recommend these over Ring right now but sure wish Ring would improve their sensor resolutions.

This is a great price.

They have. When I made my decision about a brand to go with, Arlo was offering 7 day free cloud storage AND you could back the footage up automatically to a flash storage device on the base station…that was the Arlo Pro. Since then, you can only get notifications, you can't watch the clip anymore like on my Arlo doorbell. You have to remove the storage device and view it on a computer. Now it looks like they've done away with the base station all together so you can't save everything there, and it looks like you can't even back up locally on the camera itself with a micro SD card.

Camera management was so much better in the previous version. Schedules, and actions individually … now; all in one, and only 'away' or 'home' for all not individually. Lost me.. that's with 10~ cameras over two properties

thanks for your review,it's very helpful. a lot of youtube reviews just jibber jabber with light information and don't give as much info as what you wrote. which TP Link Tapo camera models specifically do you use/like?
