This is a much better deal than the ZipAir deal posted a few days ago as you get a checked in bag, meal, carry on bag without the 15lb limit. ANA is a really nice airline. I flew with them from NRT to LAX and it was exceptional. The food was amazing even in economy. Very clean plane and comfortable seats. Will definitely fly ANA again.
i agree. i flew both ana and zipair so i can say that i agree with you.

however, there was nothing wrong with zipair in terms of service, cleanliness and timeliness. the japanese hospitality is pretty superb.
also on the chase travel portal. extra sweet with the $100 off 500 and 10k pts back deal

Considering zipair flies a similar route, we can thank Zipair for partially causing ANA to cut their pricing

I booked through United as well, how do we know it's truly a ANA flight and not United?
United international long haul flights are UA1 UA12 UA123, typically never 4 digits and never above 2xxx

if your flight number is "UA7777" or some high 4 digit number then that is code share.

edit: this varies from airline to airline. for example, today's arrival on the FlyLAX website shows airline flight numbers in bold and any code share in regular type below the first number

search "LAX arrivals today" to see what I'm talking about.

I just booked my Tokyo flights for Thanksgiving week, and I wanted to thank serra for posting the deal! We found some dates with the Narita airport and went with that instead of the Haneda airport mostly due to the dates available. A few things to point out that might help others:

I booked through United.com, but it seems to be the same as ANA since they're both Star Alliance members. According to my research, there's a 24-hour after booking cancellation window (due to DOT regulations), which is great for locking in a good rate while still having time to sort out the rest. I took advantage of that just to secure the flights and I will look at hotels tomorrow.

Another option I noticed during checkout is the FareLock feature, which lets you hold your rate for a few days. It's $6 per traveler for three days or $9 for seven days. I went with the three-day lock to have a little more time to look at hotels and ensure everything fits within our budget and no conflicts with other plans in town.

For reference, we have two kids, and this deal was about $350 more than Zip Air for our family of four. I felt it was worth the extra cost to make sure we're seated together and not have to worry about luggage issues. I just got an email from United that they just assigned our seats and we are all seated together. If I were traveling solo, I might consider Zip Air, but with the family, I prefer peace of mind.

Perhaps since many Slickdealers are going to Tokyo, time to start some good deals what to buy in Tokyo. =)
Get a good set of kitchen knifes. You can find pretty good ones at most department stores. Don't forget that you can get your VAT back if your purchase is 5000 yen or more. That knocks things down around another 10% and can add up quickly.

Can you tell me how this works?
Log into your Chase credit card account, activate the "$100 cashback with $500 spend through the Chase travel portal" deal, and then book through their portal using the credit card that had the active deal.

What goodies do you bring back? I mean if you live in a major city like LA, there are tons of asian markets (Mitsuwa, Nijiya, Marukai) that have pretty much everything you want.
Well, one thing you can bring back is a Seiko. There are also quite a few things that are significantly discounted in Japan, like Zojirushi branded appliances.

Oh good idea, I'll look at Zojirushi stuff like thermos. Also I'm going to pick up some Tengas to bring back. Perhaps a full body one.

You can't earn miles on star alliance partners?? Weird. I guess because it's a super cheap economy flight.

Not eligible
Other airline flights
Bonus miles
I booked ANA. I tried to enter my United # on ANA and it was failing but it worked on United's site. I would try entering your number b/w whatever airlines you are using. I read somewhere you can give your member # at check in. You should be able to get points if whatever flight you are on is a star alliance member. I used to fly ANA a lot and cashed in points for a power washer at home depot. Now I just divert the points to United.

Is there a listed end date of this promo/these low prices? Does/did ANA have some official web page about this or send out some email about it? I unsubscribed from ANA's email list long ago. Just trying to figure out how long I might have before this promo ends, if it has an end date.
Flights to/from LAX don't help me as I'm in Nor Cal, but with the aid of the dates listed here, I have found some decent deals for SFO <-> NRT. It's better than trying Zipair and paying for an $80 package on each leg. ANA SFO <-> HND isn't as great is ~$100 more than SFO <-> NRT. Frown

Did anyone else find flights on ANA for this price? I checked the Dec 8-9 from LAX and tried every day from the 12th-16th return and I only saw flights for that price on United. I've had nothing but issues with United for local flights. Don't feel like dealing with them on long flights.

Grand Seiko can be purchased for a healthy discount. I enjoyed looking for one in the Nagano area.

I checked a few today; it went up from $523 to around $711. I checked more... yep... It is still $711, the cheapest. Well, I waited too long; yesterday, I saw $523. United is 711 but ANA is $813 now
