Any cheap guitar can be setup to play just fine. At this price range, great for a beginner with a good setup.

Guitar comes with a synthetic bone nut (which is probably pretty cheap to begin with; replace with a bone nut and call it a day) and low ratio tuners (which are cheap to upgrade).

Since it's electric, it does need an amp. You'll of course still be able to hear it if you play without an amp, like if you just want to play quietly without waking anyone up at night, but it's going to sound metallic and twangy, and it won't project sound on its own, like an acoustic. You can get a cheap amp to go along with it. There are even pocket amps that plug into the guitar's input and then you plug headphones into it.

This Strat style comes with an amp for $20 more. Not sure of the quality on the amp but heard decent things about the GearIt guitars GEARit Electric Guitar Kit Bundle (Premium Mahogany Tonewood) GST-100 Mission Series, 39in Full-Size, Beginner Starter, with Amplifier, HSS Pickups w/Coil Split, Gig Bag, Accessories - White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ2S4QZB

I bought one (black tele with p90) during prime and it's a pile of parts shaped like a guitar. The bridge needs to be moved back to properly intonate AND its off center. That's fill and drill. String spacing is uneven. Sadly that means even though the nut slots ARE cut well and action low enough, the nut is garbage. Pretty neck that's the color of butterscotch or cheddar cheese. IMO guitar is also way too heavy.

Looks like maybe a platform for a project. New tuners, new pickups, and a setup for diyer. I would be worried about how the frets are more than anything.

Some people can certainly get away with using an audio interface and nice speakers with a desktop or iPad. They also sell cheapish things for using headphones with an electric.

If you're a beginner, GarageBand for Mac and iOS come with a tuner, recorder, drums, metronome, great tones and efx and very good guitar lessons starting at the beginning all for free.

Those who have it, is the headstock logo silkscreened over the finish so it would be easily removed? Without the logo, it would actually make decent wall art for $50.

This will not hold tune and will only frustrate a beginner. When it comes to guitars, buy nice or pay twice.
Maybe 20 years ago, cheap guitars are pretty good now

I bought this in black and it's not usable as a tunable guitar without moving the bridge, which is major repair work, that would cost more than the guitar at a shop.

People who go on about the tuners not holding tune, on the other hand are wrong. They may feel cheap, shoddy etc, but 99.9% of the time cheap tuners hold tune fine. Tuning stability is down to other factors, nut, string stretch, bridge etc.

Change tuners for a better experience, but for tuning stability its never helpful.

It's under the varnish, would be really hard to remove.

Thanks! Thumbed up and repped!

That is what I suspected and was afraid of. I had hoped they were getting these as generic guitars and slapping the logo on after the fact instead of doing it properly.
