if there is an earthquake, the bookshelf will fall and the glass will shatter

This almost certainly has hardware to secure this to the wall to prevent it being tipped over, especially by toddlers/children

Looks very 1970s. If you got wood paneling on the walls I suppose it would be consistent with the old fashioned theme.
