Just be warned, the "smart management" is a cloud subscription....
Unless you are already invested in Aruba/HPE. Not usually worth it. I'd recommend Unifi (no subscriptions needed, easy management) or basically anything else, which can be had for less. I've been in enterprise IT for over 30 years, and never understood why HP abandoned their Procurve line for 3Com designs, which have not been considered to be top shelve for decades.

Not the Aruba Instant On. Those don't have a paid subscription and you can use their free Instant On app. However, I do agree that Unifi is way more robust and offers a better warranty. The 8 port Unifi PoE switch is cheaper but has 23 less watts for PoE. The benefit though is that it has 8 PoE ports and this Aruba switch has 4.

I would take Aruba (including Instant On) any day over Ubiquiti stuff.

Aruba Instant On does not have any subscription charge. It is also the exact same enterprise grade hardware is standard Aruba networking gear, just with a simplified interface, and free cloud management (Ubiquiti it's not Enterprise grade--enterprise products are those which are not only robust, but include a support team to back them up).

In addition, you actually get support with Aruba and it's a better warranty than Ubiquiti offers. We have deployed well over 800 different switches and access points across the entire Instant On range (to be fair, we prefer 1960 or 1930 series switches--only one has ever failed, and that was due to a power surge), but that being said, for home use or a tiny office, the 1830 is fantastic. Don't expect any fancy features on Instant On switches, as the 1830 is only basic managed.
