It's basically assassin's creed with a reskin and story. I will say the combat feels very amazing and if you're a fan of fantasy in general this game is a no brainer. The army portion of it with the nemesis system allows you to take a break and have your generals and peons battle it out with other orcs.

If you've been thinking about it but haven't pulled the trigger, it's 7 dollars just buy it.
I wouldn't call it an "assassin's creed reskin." The combat feels similar to Assassin's Creed 2 through Syndicate (it was changed fundamentally in Origins) but is actually derived from the system developed for Batman: Arkham City. I'd probably call it "what Assassin's Creed SHOULD be," as AC is for the most part fully scripted encounters, whereas with the Shadow Of series you have to do the work to identify your marks, discover their strengths and weaknesses, find where they're going to be and set up your own approach. This is brilliant.

The authored stories are fine enough but it's really the emergent stories developed through the Nemesis system that make these games exceptional. The initial random generation of characters, followed by how these stories evolve, how these orcs battle for power with each other and how you play a part in that battle for power.

Assassin's creed wishes it has the nemesis system (which is patented but not used since these games released, shame shame)

have these two games on XB1 and love it. Mordor gets kinda repetitive. War is much better. but watchout, everytime you die. the game gets a little harder.

great games, played them not long after they came out so not sure how they've aged. They can be a bit repetitive if you try to grind out every little thing so I would suggest not doing that

Which one to play first? I started with Shadow of Mordor. That right?

So far it reminds me of Assassins Creed and Spider-Man, Tomb Raider style. Haven't had a chance to really get into the upgrade system yet, but seems like there isn't a wrong way to upgrade.

Just did a replay through Shadow of Mordor after finishing season 2 of The Rings of Power. Felt great to help redeem/avenge a certain character.

Both games are some of my all-time favorites on PC & Xbox. The story of Shadow of Mordor is so engaging, and the expansion of the nemesis system in Shadow of War is so fun. $7 is a steal for both with the DLC!

These are both must own games, especially for the price.
