Don't worry, I did the work. Lowes has the energy guide provided (for most models from what I reviewed) so this is pretty easy. I'll limit my research to models in this size and I picked a cheap brand and a 'name' brand that seems to be midpoint, and a few high priced ones (with ENERGYGUIDE provided):

This model:
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...291696.pdf
218kWh

Hotpoint 4.9 cuft currently on sale for $169 from $239:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hotpoint...5014941855
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...778563.pdf
216kWh

GE 5.0 cuft regular price 339:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-Garag...5014006789
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...384508.pdf
218kWh

Avanti 5.0 regular $524:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Avanti-5...5014219465
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...537105.pdf
216kWh

Black and Decker 5.0 regular $405:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/BLACK-DE...5001749527
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...488230.pdf
196kWh

NewAir 5 sale $400 regular $450:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/NewAir-5...5014821817
https://pdf.lowes.com/productdocu...531275.pdf
215kWh

Lets take the biggest difference (218-196kWh) of 22kWh, and the larger difference in the ENERGYGUIDE labels of cost at 14 cents per kWh, and the current price of $109 for the Midea vs $405 of the Black and Decker with $296 to make up in electricity; it would take over 96 years of ownership
You have to sign in, then it will display "Member Deal: Extra $60 Off" when you scroll down
It's also more efficient than running a regular fridge, because every time you open a fridge door it dumps all the cold air out onto the ground and it has to run the compressor again.

It would probably be great for an off-grid tiny home or an RV as long as your arms are long enough

This is awesome. I've been wanting a chest cooler for my mancave for years. I can easily turn this into a kegarator, or keep it as a cooler. I'm a get a wrap for it, and it's gonna be awesome!

what's the deal with the "manual defrost"? Didn't know it was a thing since 30 years!

How often do you need to Defrost, and how much of a process is it? Thinking of putting it at my work desk.. break room fridge not a good place to keep stuff for long!

This is typical of chest freezers, they keep things at a more constant temperature and are better for long term storage of food. Frost free freezers go through a cycle that warms & dehumidifies their interior but leads to the eventual spoiling of food (although it takes a long time).

If you're using it as a fridge, this won't be a concern.

All chest freezers are manual defrost.

Manual defrost fridges maintain and hold a lower temperature, which makes them better for long term storage and reduces occasions of freezer burn.

I defrost mine every 3-4 years depending on frost build-up. Plan ahead and use up the items or move them to your regular freezer. Then unplug, let everything melt and then drain through the removable plug located somewhere at the bottom of the unit. Dry the inside with a towel and then close the door and plug it back in and you should be good for another 4 years or more if you don't open it often.

Good deal but it is far from energy efficient

Check the energy guide for comparison

Might end up costing more long term depending on electricity rates

Looks like it'll go to 50 degrees. I need it to store some big wine bottles that won't fit in a regular wine fridge

All chest freezers around this price and size are over $30 a year in energy consumption.

Here's a spreadsheet I made when my last freezer broke and I was forced to shop for a new one. I added a few new entries to it so the prices are a mix of 2021 and current and not comparable. What's interesting is how energy usage per volume scales. I really need to stop using my 1.1 ft^3 Edgestar as a freezer...

hey guys, are these type of chest freezers noisy? I want to get one for my condo but its a small space so don't want something that would be meant to be stuck in a garage for example.
