For non nerds: when you use a 3rd party signin like they are doing with Steam (or when you do a "Sign in with Google" on a site), it's done using a protocol call OAuth.
In the setup, you provide a URL that the user should be redirected back to after successfully signing in. They set it to localhost port 3000. That's used for testing on a specific computer and you're supposed to replace that with the real URL before you go live.

Frankly, I still enjoy this game nearly 3 decades later. It's still has a Christmas Nights if you finish the dreams with both characters at c level or higher. This game was from a time when some developers wrote love letters to gamers with their games, and Nights was one of them.
