  • This is $80 lower than the next lowest price from a reputable merchant with prices starting from $719.99, and this does not even factor in the value of the SSD (worth ~$169.99).
  • Rated 4.9 out of 5 stars based on over 30 ratings.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

How does this compare to alienware aw3423dw/f?
I don't have this Samsung monitor but the Alienware has a 3 year dead pixel + burn-in warranty. I had to use it on the first device - they sent me a new one before I had to return mine

It's also qd-oled which lets me work comfortably when my environment is super bright

I have this monitor for 2 years. No dead pixels. No burn in. But please if you get this oled monitor do a few things

1) get a micro hdmi cable and stop using that mini dp cable the monitor came with. With dp cable monitor is slow on responding to wake up, sometimes it doesnt even wake up and you have to use the remote control. Slow on switching hdr on/off. All this get fixed with hdmi. Bought one from amazon $10.

2) get a samsung service remote ( this can void warranty). Do a search how to enable hdr 1000. Games look ALOT better in this mode.

3) with the service remote disable the pop up game bar which comes up every time it wakes up.

This is the 2024 version of the G85. I bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago and it has been great so far. This one comes with full ports. Two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 1.4.

This also comes with the 3 year dead pixel and burn-in warranty.

I use hdmi and when you set the peak brightness to high in hdr, you can calibrate it with the Windows HDR calibration tool to hdr 1000. This also has the latest NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor. I did reach out to Samsung support and I was told this also has the Gen 3 panel as well. I have seen that the Gen 3 are supposed to be set panel sizes and I haven't seen any review on this model year just yet to have 3rd party confirmation on the display panel version. Games look great either way.

The monitor was on sale for $580 two weeks ago. I'd imagine we'll see that price again next month.
This monitor is the lowest price now. It was never on sale for $580. You are referring to the previous version, G85SC. I had that monitor and returned it because of the ports. Samsung fixed it on this version, the G85SD have full HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort rather than the micoHDMI and miniDP. The only downside to this version is no USB-C but rather USB-A.

Any opinion on whether to get this or the 32" 4K that's also on sale?

That's the one I'm leaning toward. I hear the internals are the same but the "older" SB doesn't have matte screen which is preferred , but only sort of down side is the mini ports, and lack of image shifting tech to reduce burn in.
It does have image shifting. I thought my eyes were tripping

Hmm.. Using EDU I can get the $719 price but get only $50 credit instead of the SSD.
With freeshipping.com I can get an additional 10% rebate off the purchase price so that sort of makes up for not getting the SSD.
