Love my S5II this is a great deal for the ones looking.
beast of a camera.
You are right. I have moved from Canon system to this and I noticed the same thing. In terms of lenses, I can use the adaptor from EF to L so I can use my old Canon lenses. Leica makes great lenses for this system so you are not limited. Sony has more lenses choices from the third parties. But I do not think it is lacking in lenses for Lumix. Lumix cameras is very adaptable and Panasonic had two major updates for this camera this year. Which is amazing. I have never seen Canon update theirs. I have had Canon since 5 D mark II came out and was starting on the R format when I noticed the Canon limiting everything and that annoyed me.
Love my s5ii. Also the 20-60 kit lens is optically the best kit lens ever made. Its price/performance is absolutely insane. Of course there are better lenses for it, but they cost a lot more.

Is there a reason this isn't getting more attention? I was previously looking at the Canon R6ii but this seems to be comparable in many regards with a few value added functions.

The fact that it is new and comes with a decent quality kit lens for roughly the same price as a refurb R6ii has me thinking…

I get that glass options may be limited, any other drawbacks?

Good price, but less mainstream than Canon/Nikon/Sony. Probably a good deal if you are not already in a certain system (and its lenses).

Not sure about auto-focus performance, something to look into and compare, especially if you are after fast moving subjects like sports, wildlife and toddlers.

They are sharing the L-mount with Leica and Sigma, not sure what other 3rd party options there are and how they are priced.

Panasonic had updated firmware so that autofocus and anti shake works better. It has the best IBIS system of anybody.

If someone buys from B&H be sure to add either the 50mm and or the 80mm 1.8. Those with the 20-60 kit lens makes a pretty stout setup.

I've seen the photo's out of this, it take fantastic photos. Not sure about the lens range though, seems limited. Is this made in China? I only buy camera gear made in Japan.

It's not question an outstanding performer, but as a Canon and Nikon shooter (moving towards Canon), the best tech support I've ever received is hands down Canon. Their techs are very well trained and know their stuff. Same with their printers as I use their Prograff Pro1000. I'm not badmouthing the S5 at all but I'm not familiar with tech or warranty service. At a bare minimun, play with both at a camera shop or rent one for 3-5 days. Chances are good that any camera club members shoot them and most all of us love helping others. Really no wrong Choice with Panny, Canon, or Nikon. Now that said, there are some hard core Pentax lovers too. Get out there and enjoy! I have found that a new camera always generates a creative spark.

I was debating between S5II, R6ii and A7IV. Both S5 and R6 are better in terms of specs. But I eventually ended up picking A7IV for the lens collection. I am glad I did because the lens costs add up very quickly and Sony having multiple 3rd party lenses that are cheaper, helps a lot.

For those with an edu discount this system along with the 50mm is currently 1,585 at Adorama. price may vary because that total cost factored in my CA tax. I just ordered mine today. If they charge you shipping at checkout then chat with customer service and they'll remove the shipping cost.
