Dell Latittude is not the tank it was once. The precision line 5000 is basically what latitude used to be, and precision 7000 is what precision used to be line. latitude is now just somewhat better than inspiron. good for inspiron but a downgrade for latitude.

that said the specs are good and the processor is good. get a 1080p version with a quad core, and I would personally do 2x8 for 16gb and that's all you'll need. I have many laptops with 11th gen and I am quite pleased with them.

Depends on the Elitebook series. Elitebook 6xx has come with 720p displays in recent years (link to 640 G9 specs [hp.com]). Similarly Latitude 5xxx does too.

Latitude 5xxx -> Elitebook 6xx
Latitude 7xxx -> Elitebook 8xx
Latitude 9xxx -> Elitebook 10xx

Yes, it's Apples to Oranges. It's a desktop, not a laptop. MacOS vs Windows. And it's twice the price.
It's very much apples to oranges. You crap on the 720p display, fair enough, but the display is maybe 1/4 of the cost of a new laptop and the Mac Mini has none while costing >2x these laptops. A garbage but usable display is still worth more than none at all. Let's not also forget the built-in battery that laptops have. The market for a device with a built-in screen and battery and without is not the same.

ew, I paid about 300.00 with tax. I am happy with it.

I got one i7 with 32GB a couple of months ago and it died on day 102, contacted Dell support and they told me it's out of warranty and no exceptions, paid the $39 diagnostic fee and just received the quote $264+tax for repair.

I am considering the Dell Latitude 5420 (Product ID: dell-latitude-5420-000029), which has an i7 processor, 32GB RAM, and a 512GB hard drive, priced at $339. It seems like a solid deal, but it's been a while since I last bought a laptop. Does anyone know if this model could handle Python, light programming, and support multiple monitors? I'm also planning to pay with my Amex Platinum, which should extend the warranty.

It should do decently, but you may have to wait for it a bit here and there. The 32GB RAM will help, and I gather it has Thunderbolt 4/USB-C with DP, so it should work decently with external monitors. The i7-1165G7 CPU is only 74% as fast as the i7-1265U in my current Latitude 5530 for work, so you may have to be patient at times. Here's a comparison of the i7/equivalent CPUs from the Latitude 5420 to 5450 (11th- to 14th-gen) that seems fairly in-line with reality: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/comp...tra-7-155U

I was ready to use my $50 off $250 on the 50% off refurbished models at DellRefurbished.com but the AmEx offer terms specifically note "This offer does not apply to refurbished items" so I'm guessing the different URL/storefront and these terms will prevent me from getting the credit. Anyone have any direct experience? After reading some of the reviews here I may pass anyway - but good to have a final conclusion from others with experience.

I got the below on Aug 27 .. So about 80 days and so far no issues but fingers crossed it doesn't die after warranty.. paid $218 including taxes

Anyone who received could share if Dell refurb dept ship fedex? My tracking showed it was out for delivery yesterday nov 21 at 4am up til 9pm but never got delivered. Checked this morning and fedex tracking updated to show it was delivered at 12pm nov 21. I was home all day and nothing on my camera showing fedex truck. It was signed with 3 letters. I filed a lost with FedEx just now. Feeling pretty sad.

dell refurb is run by fedex (not dell).. so it's gonna ship with fedex.
