Tried it in best buy . It is very hard to grip. A side handle grip is a must.

The lenses it comes with is the problem. It is 20-60, 3.5-5.6 and made for S5. This lenses pretty much defeats the purpose of buying a compact camera like this S9. Panasonic doesn't really have compact lenses for this L mount. there is one 18-40, 4.5-6.3 that's all.

LMount also includes Sigma lenses, so while Panasonic fails here, Sigma does come through with some nice compact lenses

I'm glad people are commenting on the grip. When this was first released that was my big question and concern. I had a hard time gripping my Fuji XT30 and the bigger the lens the more awkward it was to handle.

This almost seems mandatory, definitely would be for me

Who wouldn't know Lumix is compatible with L mount. I was initially talking about native lenses. There aren't even handful of compact/pancake lenses suitable for S9 in L mount lenses. I can think of maybe 1 or 2 max, 45mm 2.8 sigma maybe. do you know any other lenses that are small and light enough to carry with this camera? please recommend one then.
Panasonic should've come up with more lens choices when lunching this camera.
This is the biggest reason why so many people can't switch from Sony to this.

Open box, excellent for $1305, add in 5% cashback = $1240.

Plan to use this traveling and hiking. Thoughts? Guides? Tricks? carrying case recommendations?

Some people might not be aware, not everyone is camera knowledgeable brand wise.

Didn't mean to imply there were many options like in FE Mount for example. The Sigma 45/2.8 like you mentioned, 17/4, 24/3.5, 90/2.8, and of course the 18-40.

One can also get away with the 35/2 at 325g.
I don't have any disagreement that Lumix failed in having compact lenses ready if they were planning to launch such a camera.

G9ii has phase detect autofocus. I'd get that before the GH6.

I can confirm that my S5 came with that lens and it is a beast.

I can also confirm that L mounts are expensive af, and I read that it is more about the market than the quality and the L mount system has a relatively low adoption rate for cameras that are suitable for hobbyists on a budget.

That being said, the picture and video quality is pretty amazing and I don't totally regret my purchase, but I do wish I bought a camera body that can work more easily with Canon lenses because they have a really robust secondary market.

I know there are adapters for the L mount to make them more compatible, and last I checked those adapters don't work with AF.

I have a 35mm pancake lens from a brand I never heard of and it's good if you don't mind manual focus. But yeah, the options are incredibly limited and the quality stuff is really expensive and there is a very limited secondary market for them.

smaller camera is smaller camera, does not defeat purpose.
