In general, no.

By nature of you even asking the question, the answer to this kind of question will always be no, nobody can explain this to you in a way that will make sense. It's like asking why someone would pay a lot for steak when you could just eat ramen. You'll never be able to explain to that person why something is "better" if they've reduced the value of the item to merely being "food".

This isn't meant to be insulting, if you have a $15 backpack and are happy with it, live your life. There is no reason to wonder why anybody else spends what they spend on theirs.
Smokin deal. This price only happens a few times/yr...meaning 2 or 3 times so I wouldn't wait if you're on the hunt for this backpack. FWIW, I love mine. Been using it for both work and family travel since it was released. It's waterproof (with waterproof zippers) so it keeps your laptop safe in the rain (I can personally vouch for this), can handle 2-3 days of clothes for short trips (fits 2 Nomatic medium packing cubes), magnetic bottle holders so they "stick" to the side of the backpack even after they're stretched out, has a separate sleeve for shoes/sandals, fits my work 16" m3 macbook pro easily, and even when fully loaded it always sits upright. Always. Once you realize how handy that little design perk is you never want to go back. You can always do a drive by and scoop it up by the top handle without fail. And last, it fits under airplane seats without an issue. For travel purposes, I can't imagine a better backpack.
4+ lbs for a 20L bag is pretty heavy. This is a bag for travel, and when you carry it around all day, every ounce of weight matters.

You do you. I traveled with this all over asia this summer. Went through the monsoon in Thailand and sapa vietnam. Held up like a champ. Best bag ever. It's just a bag. No need to read 10 thousand reviews before buying lol

I think folks who read too much into reviews will be missing out. Excellent bag all around and I definitely like mine. Best backpack one can buy for travel that feels very premium and is not fragile where it will break apart.

Question....

Does it matter if we pay with Costco Card or NOT? Trying to figure this part out.
You do NOT get the extra 2% by using the Costco Visa card. I have confirmed that a long time ago. (I have purchased a few Costco Next items).
Unless the rules have changed in the last 3 to 4 months, use the card which will give you the best returns (points/miles/cashback etc).

This was the answer I was hoping to get. Thank you

Edited for 'return policy' question!

Didn't someone say this is "water PROOF" travel pack? But on the website, it says "water RESISTANT".

I have friends who have had Nomatic travel packs before and love them. The key was the backpacks I know of (which my friends used) were in fact water PROOF.

So, what gives? Is this not the travel pack I am thinking of?

Thanks, all!

2nd question: the return policy doesn't say anything about whether the 'return' is free (or whether we have to pay for the return).
Any info will be very appreciated.

Can someoone explain to me why this is worth $155 when a 30L packable backpack with unpadded laptop pocket from Amazon (#1 best seller) is $15? (5yrs later after using it almost every other week for weekend trips still holds up well)
LV vs fossil. Some people tend to think expensive = better quality.

Would this be practical for work?

I gotta lug a bunch of stuff around from paperwork, ipad, iphone ect. I have backpack from Amazon that says it's 50L, been using it for a couple years now.

Tempting but the only problem for me is the weight at 4.16 lbs.
I would agree, I have the 40L and while I love it and swear by it, it's pretty heavy unloaded. For the 40L it's less of an issue as it's competing with other roll-on bags or checked bags which will also be heavy. But for a 20L I want something really light that I can be comfortable walking around with on my back all day.

This is tempting. I also got an offer for 30% off this Timbuktu travel bag which appears to be larger capacity so not as portable. Wondering how these two compare otherwise, at least in terms of quality

Ive been using this Bange brand backpack as an affordable alternative, and it's literally a clone of this Nomatic for a fraction of the price. After a year of travel, including 8 overseas flights and 14 domestic trips, and some heavy wear and tear, it's still holding up perfectly. Highly recommend.
