Both are excellent back packs, the 20L size is perfect everyday size for use at school or work, or to use as a carryon for a short trip, or even to pack up for a day hike.
Both of these are worth $60, but I wouldn't say $60 is a slick deal by any means. At $50 for the clearance models, I'd personally rather spend the extra $10 and get a color that I really like.
For $40, that's the price where I'd be more willing to settle for whatever colors were on sale. If you need a backpack and have a dividend to spend, then by all means swing by your local REI and check these two out.
It has more features (included rainfly, more storage pockets, more adjustment belts) than my osprey 35 liter at less than half the price.
Im fairly new to backpacking, is there any real difference between the expensive brands and the cheaper options at Amazon to warrant the extra cost?
