Much awaited sale has arrived - low for Epix Pro 2 for last year BB was 599 compared to 649 (except WM/ AMZN price mistake).

So can we expect $599 or will this be the best for this year?

I will give you my reasoning… Epix Pro 2 comes 90% closer to latest Fenix 8.

Both have
- latest v5 HR sensor capable of skin temp and ECG
- Flashlight
- AMOLED screens

While Fenix 8 has
- Speaker / half baked voice assistant
- Scuba features
- New UI

I wouldn't pay extra $500 (1099-649) for those two features.

If retailers know this and/or Garmin communicates discounting strategy such that Epix is not sold at fire sale, then I DON'T think we will see deeper discounts. Also, discounting depends on how much inventory is left over for Epix.

I have 47 mm Epix Pro 2 but looking for 51 mm Epix Pro 2 or Tactix 7 AMOLED, so I am also in the same boat of deciding what to do.

One thing I noticed not many people have called out is that the 42mm Epix has a 30.4 mm diameter display vs 33 mm for the Fenix 8. This means the Fenix display has an area that is almost 18% bigger which is pretty significant.

So you're saying the lowest price was $599 a year ago, and this year $649 is probably the lowest?

Damn inflation. 😂

Maybe the best thing to do is buy this and HODL for a few more days in case a better deal appears?
