I didn't get your issue here .. you'll anyways use for 3 months for that lucrative price and you'll disable auto renew in 3rd month... I didn't get you... Please clarify
Some of us do not want the service to activate automatically the day the SIM card arrives. We might wish to wait a month before our current cell phone plan runs out. Also if the SIM is lost in shipping somehow your service will auto activate and you'll lose days of service while you request and then wait for the replacement SIM to arrive. Otherwise I think this deal is pretty darn good!

I am not sure i understand the deal:
Why would you want this just for 1-3months? (yes, $10/month is a deal)
- But, it seems like a big hassle, to change to and then again to another cellular service, after 3rd month
I certainly cannot see paying Std rate of $49/month after 3rd month
some of us visit relatives with unreliable internet or no internet during the holidays

I'll go to the US in 90 days, is it possible to buy this now and use it later? Or does it expire?

WARNING: Lyca mobile does auto-renewal and there is no way to cancel it. app/website doesn't work to or their short code to call can cancel auto-renewal.
ONLY USE PAYPAL or PRIVACY DOT COM to purchase lyca

Thanks for the info... was waiting for a MINT mobile black Friday deal but don't think its going to be anything special. I'm out of data with my current carrier so I need to find a cheap prepay to switch to ASAP. .

Yep, there are reasons to want short terms plans as a backup or workaround to otherwise poor service when travelling. As an example, I went to a large music festival last summer and got a one month plan with US Mobile with no intent to renew. I was on Mint and knew T-Mobile data was iffy there with the huge crowd in a rural area only once a year, and Verizon service was okay last year. Lyca and others are fine for this even if I wouldn't trust them with my number or as a main provider.

these are all promoted original threads -- look at reviews before decide to go with Lyca -- I ( and many others ) have really bad experience and I hate to type it each time -- lol.
