I did some research on Android custom OS for anyone interested in that.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet 2018, 8th Gen (karnak?) supposedly has a LineageOS custom ROM, but it's an old version based on LinageOS 16/Android 9. It might also require minor hardware mod (shorting some pins) to do the first install. Actually it looks like there's also a LinageOS 20/Android 13 build but it has bugs.

Newer models don't have the boot-loader exploit needed for a full custom OS. There's always Fire Toolbox though.

Removing the amazon crud with Fire Toolbox so I can access google play and utilize my still functioning 2019 Kindle Fire 10 as a Touch Portal device was awesome. And then when I found out about making it a virtual nintendo DS with DraStic it became awesomer. I love my Kindle Fire.

Fire toolbox just runs ADP commands, you can see what it's doing. I wouldn't be concerned.

Thanks! I was browsing how to root and change the rom. But this is much faster and easier.

My Fire 10 2021 tablet (11 gen) received from Woot reboots itself every a minute or so. No scratches or dents on the tablet but yet, looks like there a software glitch or something. Any ideas?

I had installed the Google play store, added a launcher, removed the Amazon's pre installed apps from the Fire toolbox, but still, the tablet reboots itself every several minutes later after using it whether reading or watching a video.

Hmmm....

Edit:

Updated to the latest firmware FireOS and the tablet is now stable. No more reboot loops.

Got mine. Some light scratches but not a big deal. They included a USB-C to USB-C cable with a USB-A brick
