I see your point and I'm not in a position to say you're wrong. I've seen this debate play out for a while and there are reputable people and organizations that represent both sides of the argument.
I'm not system admin, network person, OS specialist or a penetration expert. I'm a long time hobbyist who has a goal of not being the lowest hanging fruit when it comes to security.
I read reviews of software and try to use the sw rated most effective with a light footprint.
It isn't an either/or proposition; Windows defender runs in parallel with 3rd parties. Every SW has risks that slip through. Run two solutions and now you're ven diagram of overlapping security holes decreases.
If it was just me, I'd be less inclined, but I have a household with not so savvy Internet users. 3rd party software is actually gaudier and more obvious... popping up with warnings as if trying to justify their existence. This gets noticed by my family and causes them to stop and (hopefully) learn. I think those warnings may have prevented contamination at some point over 25 years, but I don't know. I haven't had a security beach (virus, Trojan, phishing scam, worm, email contact exploit, etc) on my PCs /network ever. (To my knowledge & knock on wood.)
The performance hit is a thing, but I'm the only one in my family taxing my micro/video processors & memory and I've found solutions I can live with.
For me, 10 to 20 cents/mo to likely reduce risk on a PC for 2 years is okay with me.
I don't feel the need to be extreme on either side of this argument. That is just where I landed and I'm open to new information to change my approach.
I would personally recommend separating your PW manager from one of these "suites" so you are not locked down to their Company...please look at Bitwarden (free or paid plans, choose personal) - https://bitwarden.com/pricing/
You know anyone who truly want to do some damage will test to make sure their ware pass through Windows Defender, otherwise, what's the point?

just add a post on slickdeals
are these kind of posts allowed in SlickDeals ?

What I can do is merely resell a code which is sold in international emerging markets at rates which are better than what is offered in the states because of the purchasing power parity between the two.

The online codes come with a caveat that the lower prices are specific to the Country but the offline codes do not have such a caveat .

And I have personally stacked up multiple codes so that is a sure thing you can immediately stack multiple codes of the same plan to extend your validity

NordVPN is the same $29.99 price at Amazon but there's a targeted credit for $5 off select digital goods that can potentially bring this down to$24.99.

Just bought through Amazon for $24.99!

I had a year left of Total Security and purchased 2 more years, it stacked.
how were you able to stack it? I originally had half a year left. when I purchased another 2 years and added the activation code, it replaced the half a year with 2 years instead of stacking. same product.

Spring for it. I don't believe the price for just basic Nord has been this low from Newegg in a year…maybe 14 months.
it was $22 a couple of days ago

I currently have NordVpn up and running until 2028, how does this deal work for me? Am I need to go to the NordVpn website buying the same plan of the digital code version I bought from Newegg to extend my current NordVpn account?
