Don't buy the cheap $10 14-50 outlets. They were not made to run continuously for 5+ hours every few days. Get an industrial one for $48:

I'm planning on buying a Tesla. Would this make sense as a permanent charger in a garage or are there better options? This seems nice for traveling to someone's house that you know has the NEMA 14-50 outlet, but I don't know if this is good as a permanent charger.
I'm concerned by a lot of the 1 star reviews...
Spend the money and hardwire a wall connector on 60A circuit if your home supports it. Check incentives. In my case, local utility and fed credit covered the cost.
Never had any issues been almost a year of use. You can also adjust the speed at which it charges. There are way better options out there but get very expensive. I doesn't have an app or anything you just view on your vehicle app to see how the charge is going.
Just buy the Tesla mobile charger.better integration with the car.
How far is future? This is a J1772 charger. All US car manufacturers are changing over to NACS like Tesla so you'd eventually need a (cheap) adapter to use this. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of.
We paid $200 for this back in January and have been using it on our Mach-E for almost a year now with no issues.
Where are you guys all finding these NEMA 14-50s to plug into? I've only ever seen one on my Dryer I think. 7kw/hr seems really nice and the price is pretty decent, I just have no clue where I would even plug one into.
You can get an adapter to plug this into your dryer outlet.
Just make sure too reduce the power down to 5200 Watts since the dryer outlet is only 32 amps
I wonder if it's a rebadged Tera? Looks exactly the same. Same price too, and my Tera has been rock solid. If it's the same it links with the Smart Life home automation app for firmware upgrades, scheduled charging, and power on/off.
I have two garages, two EVs, a WiFi Level-2 40A smart EVSE, and a 110v/220v 16A portable dumb EVSE. When both EVs need to be charged, I must plug in the dumb when super off-peak starts. The EV's own charging window setting works as a preference, not to my like. This Anker one fits my needs: 220V, 32A, dumb but has a hourly schedule setting.
This is an excellent deal on a product with ETL certification from a reputable company. It's also nice that they include some accessories that allow you to use it as a stationary or home charger.
Just be aware there are big differences between ETL and UL.

I highly doubt dryers have NEMA 14-50 outlets. Probably more like Nema 14-30. Not many electric dryers would need more than 30 A. Generally, 30A for Dryer, 40A for stove.
If you want to use full 7Kw charger, then you will need to feed 32A at 240V. Which requires 40A circuit. That said, if you are planning to put a new circuit, labor should be pretty much the same anyways whether you pull 4/3 (60A) or 8/3 (40A). Maybe couple of $100 or so more for copper line (depending on how far you are pulling). I say pull 60A, put 14-50 outlet, once your need becomes 48A charger - which requires hard wiring - just remove 14-50 outlet, hardwire the new EVSE to the box and be done.
