This is often true, but not in this case. It's a very well done design and material, and me as a person very prone to static shocks get none with this model.
I bought it in the last sale in black and bought again in a pre-Black Friday deal for $27. They ran out of stock of other colors menwhile, so I'm glad I did it, instead of waiting for a better Black Friday deal.
Woot also has recurringly (and had earlier this week) good deals on Columbia. Generally much cheaper than on the website.

The pic on their website of the Men's Castle Dale™ Full Zip Fleece Jacket charcoal heather looks brown. It's actually a dark gray. I returned mine, NO return shipping charge, emailed me a prepaid UPS label. They told me they would change the pic. When?
