Yeah. They've done that for as long as I've been purchasing equipment from them (at least 10 or 15 years, though probably far longer). It's never deterred me at all. Their prices are fair, they don't end sale prices until well after they reopen, and in the grand scheme of things, it's a pretty minor inconvenience. Setting a reminder to go back in and order once they've reopened is quick and easy.

The store was founded by an ultra-orthodox Jewish family as a means to create jobs for the people in their community. It is still run by them and Jewish holidays and Shabbat are strictly observed.

I am in the same boat. My Fire 10" is unbearably slow and requires constant rebooting to clear memory. I am looking at:
1) the latest Fire 10, trading in my current one. That gets me to $38+tax for the 64GB version, after trade-in credit and 20% discount.
2) this Lenovo at OfficeDepot, but $109.99 can be paid with OD rewards, which I have enough of.
There's probably ways of clearing memory so you don't have to reboot all the time, that are also more efficient. I just haven't had the time to look into it. Plus the whole converting a Fire to a "real" Android tablet hack is showing its age. I mean I can't use the Amazon app on an Amazon tablet, which is beyond bizarre! Which is why I'm thinking of just switching to a standard Android tablet like this or the Samsung. Btw that newer 10" Fire tablet still has only 3GB of RAM, so you'll have the same memory issues eventually.

Well, with my current fire tablet as trade-in, it will cost me just $30/$38+ for 32/64GB of a newer 3gb model. And if I upgrade in 1-2 yrs to something else, the trade-in is likely $30 again. So it's a wash moneywise to get the newer model, basically getting to use it for free. That's a tough deal to turn down.

How do this and the Samsung A9+ that's going for $150 right now compare to the 2021 Fire 10"? I have the latter, which I immediately converted to generic Android with the Fire Toolbox. It was fine for the first couple of years, but for the past 6-9 months it's gotten really slow, specifically when I start using it after not using it for a while, it often takes several minutes to be usable as it does some memory housekeeping in the background, after which it's fine. So I'm looking to get something newer and faster, with more RAM. I'm not a power user or gamer, mostly just consume content, news, YouTube, web, Sling, music, Amazon, etc., so no need for something cutting edge, just no lag for this sort of use.
I purchased the 10" 2021 fire hd from the Woot deal for $30, and it's slow af and not worth it even at $30. Tiktok takes like almost a minute to load and not sure why it offers the split screens when the tablet itself can't handle it. Now, in search for a new tablet

Lenovo is known for giving an extended time for security updates.
That means an extended time for hoping you will get one.

Okay looks like different SKUs for this and Office Depot and Amazon. The Amazon one comes with a stylus and case… OD and this one doesn't mention one?

Now I'm considering the HD 11 instead, which would cost me just over $100 with the same trade-in, or around $60 more total, but that gets me a slightly bigger and nicer screen, 4GB RAM instead of 3GB, and 128GB internal storage instead of 64GB, so for that alone it seems worth it.

I always put in the biggest MicroSD card I have to store most content, but having more internal storage helps with app performance as you always want to install those internally and some don't even allow you to be installed externally. Plus that extra 1GB RAM should also help.

The only question being whether it'll actually make all these lag issues go away or at least not appear for another year or two. I'm not a power user but I hate any lag beyond a few seconds, and even that's annoying. But a minute or more is just unacceptable.

I'm going to take a look at the Samsung A9+ at Costco this weekend. It's $150 + tax, so just over $160 total, but it includes a case, is a "real" Android tablet, and comes with 4GB/64GB.

My 2 cents.

Stay away from the Fire Tablets... I will not even tell you why.

If you get a tablet today your CPU should be either a SD695 or the MediaTek G99 AS THE SLOWEST CPU TO BUY.

This tablet has a G88 CPU... which IMHO is TOO SLOW!!!!

Either get the Samsung for a few bucks more or go to Amazon and search "G99 Tablets"... the cheapest one today is about $125ish and it has 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive. These Chines tablets have ZERO bloatware and run amazing for what they are.

I bought one of these last night. Good deal and I don't need the stylus.

The Kindles are too restrictive. I find some websites that steam live videos don't work with the crappy silk browser.. and it is way too much work to backdoor load chrome etc.. and then the app is out of date or not enough memory... honestly my time is worth more than the extra $40 to get a native android device that gets updates and has a decent amount of on board memory.

This looks like a decent device by a reputable brand.

I want a tablet connected via Bluetooth to a JBL Partybox 710 speaker (800watts).

I use Spotify.

Will this be a good option?
