Will this match a 4090 build? I mean, it's a huge deal even if it gets close, considering this is about what a AIB partner 4090 goes for

4090 is still around 30% faster but is typically another $1k. Get a 4090 if money is no object, otherwise get a 4080 super or wait for 50 series

Almost certainly, the 50 series will be announced very soon (around January) and you will see these prices become normal and deals will get even better. If you can wait. I'm waiting myself but up to you. This is a solid deal paired with the newest and best cpu

The 240mm aio should be fine as the 9800x3d is pretty good on power consumption/efficiency. Provided that the ibuypower one is halfway decent of course.

Ram upgrade is a given and ssd upgrade is based on user preference. These two are relatively simple and inexpensive upgrades that you can snap up on sd right now. I would probably upgrade the psu to a reputable fully modular one.

Anyone know what brand is the default listed 4080 Super?

There are a bunch of good optional power supplies. You could switch to the 1050 Watt - Enermax Revolution D.F. X Series - 80 PLUS Gold PCIe GEN 5, Fully Modular for an additional $67 or go with something like a 1000 Watt - Be quiet! Pure Power 12 M - 80 PLUS Gold PCIe GEN 5, Fully Modular for an additional $101, or 1000 Watt - CORSAIR RM1000e - 80 PLUS Gold PCIe GEN 5, Fully Modular for an additional $109.

You can save $1,000 by downgrading from an RTX 4090 to a 4080 Super.

This one doesn't have the self-destructing 14900.

How does it compare to this deal, 200.00 cheaper
https://slickdeals.net/f/17918004-alienware-aurora-r16-desktop-i9-14900f-rtx-4080-super-32gb-ddr5-1t...
The Alienware build came to $1700 all-in, plus $108 in Dell Rewards. For me, that's $500+ cheaper. Even if my CPU were bad, and for some reason it wasn't covered under warranty, I could replace the thing out of pocket and still break even vs this build with half the RAM. That's an easy call to make.

You're right for sure the Alienware looks like a good value, but I would count on that CPU having problems at some point. Intel is trying to fix an oxidation issue with a software update. What does their update do to performance? Does that Alienware have proprietary parts? Does it have PCIe 5.0 support for graphics? Does it have USB4 and WiFi7? Ram is cheap and simple to replace. I configured it with 16gb less RAM for the $140 savings. This is good for people who want to stay away from Intel for a while, with a nice motherboard and the 4080 super.

It is still working right now for me when I configure it the way I listed in the original post. I just added it to my cart, $2097 - $100 for the coupon code "BFMONTH". $1997 + tax.

The oxidation issue was a separate issue with their manufacturing process which was said to have been fixed long ago. The lingering issue has been voltage-related, and is said to have been fixed in the latest microcode update. If I have issues, I'll avail myself of the extended warranty Intel has offered. The Alienware is WiFi 6E but that really doesn't matter to me on a wired connection. This PC doesn't have USB4 either so I'm not sure why you mentioned that.

I agree that skimping on included RAM is a good opportunity for cost-savings, and this is a solid option for people who refuse to buy Intel. Hell, if the price delta was $100-200, I'd probably buy this one instead. But over $500 savings on a PC that won't require me to buy additional stick of RAM is just too good to pass up.
