i actually disagree, i regularly edit 4k videos with heavy effects and do heavy photo editing on this same laptop. sometimes it outperforms my 10 core desktop.
Need to own and use a MacBook air first.
Nearly 4 years old. I'd be worried about the battery ($100+) and Apple dropping support. Not worth it.

M1 still runs great. Apple silicon are probably Tim Cook's best investment on macs. If you can get hold of 16G RAM , much nicer.
No clue on geek squad refurb quality.
I would rather buy from someone known and avoid taxes. personally don't like paying taxed on used stuff.

No restocking fee that I'm aware of. The standard Best Buy return policies apply, to my knowledge.
As a previous poster said, buying and returning from Best Buy is a lot easier/safer than buying from a random person (especially with a laptop of this age)! I will be checking the battery capacity and health as soon as I receive it.

so my prediction came true didn't it
Macbooks with 8gb are now nearing 400 dollars base price.

apple gimped their laptops by making it soldered only as a result their value is severely diminished.
unless there is a huge trade in promotion.
Where do you see $400 for new Macbook Air M1? Like to know please

Be more concerned about these being refurbished FROM BEST BUY. They are not the best in terms of quality checks.

It really is a crapshoot on "used" quality. lol.

Some are mint, some are beat to crap.
