These are classic, high-value-for-price headphones that have been around since before Slickdeals was a f@3ing thing. I just listened to Siri read your barely-comprehensible comment through my 20 y/o pair and the mids were crisp!

FYI. The detachable cord one uses Koss proprietary utility cable. It allows you to swap the plug from 3.5mm to others like USB A. The additional cords are kind of expensive and overall seems shorter than the standard cord in OPs listing. The connector is on the larger side and adds heft to the cord.

On another note, Yaxi ear pads take these to another level in comfort and sound quality. If you're into these on ear open back headphones its worth the additional cost. The two packs are the best deal.

Koss, the original studio headphones for the masses! Much nicer than that poster is thinking.

I think the poster you replied to was referring to the Nakamichi Bluetooth headphones they used to give out for free at Sears sales with piles of SYWR points attached (paying us to take them). Rock those on the bus with a HP TouchPad and the $1 Eddie Bauer sweats from Costco for true SD style.

Fun headphones for a low price, Lots of mods if you want a winter project. I did the Kramer grille removal mod and recommend, haven't delved into any of the others but there's lots you can do.

I haven't used mine in at least 5y and decided to try it on yesterday. I forgot how nice it was. It has a mellow warm sound that kind of envelopes you. It's very unique to this headset. For the price it's ridiculous. It's not gonna compare to your high end cans, but it's punching up. It's the MOST comfortable headset I own. Nothing comes close.

I've got a couple pairs. Prefer them rather than ear buds due to the very good sound and bass. And they are comfortable, and work well when I go to the gym.

I have the original PortaPro and the one with the boom mic. Great headphones.
Haven't tried the Yaxi ear pads yet. I've seen some comments about the color fading: Have you experienced that?
